Valentine's Day is coming up, whether you like it or not. For some, it's a day of romance, and, for others, it's a day to celebrate friendships, family members, and other loving relationships in their lives. If you're looking for something to do on campus to celebrate this day of love, friendship, and lots of chocolate, then stay tuned!
1. Hearts for Hearts Gala
The Hearts for Hearts Gala is an event presented by Chi Theta Phi and Sigma Nu benefiting the American Heart Association. It will be held Feb. 13 in the MU Ballroom from 7-9 p.m., and themed date baskets will be auctioned off to individuals in attendance. Tickets will be available for pre-sale in the MU Quad on Feb. 11th and 12th from 10 am to 2 pm for $5 and will be $10 at the door. This event is open to the community and these organizations would love your support!
2. Swing Club Dance
The Swing Club at Oregon State University, a member of the Corvallis Swing & Blues Alliance, is putting on a dance Feb. 12 to be held in the OSU Women's Building from 8 through 11 p.m. with a cover price of $5. There will be a lesson on eight-count swing beforehand, and then the dancing will begin. Dress is formal and snacks are provided.
3. Sigma Phi Epsilon Sweethearts
Sigma Phi Epsilon will be hosting the final event of their annual Sweethearts philanthropy. Every year there is a dodgeball tournament, date auction, day of service and lastly, the pageant event, which will be held at LaSells Stewart Center this Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. The money raised will go to Community Outreach (COI), a Corvallis-based non-profit. As one of the largest nonprofits in the mid-Willamette Valley, COI provides services for more than 7,000 people in need each year.
4. MEChA de OSU's Valentine Bake Sale
Stop by the Student Experience Center Plaza on Feb. 11 to buy a unique gift for your valentine. MEChA de OSU, a student organization dedicated to promoting higher education, culture, and history, will be selling heart-shaped sugar cookies for you to purchase on the go, or spend a few minutes customizing with sprinkles and frosting.There will also be Jolly Rancher flowers and both are available at only 75 cents a piece.
5. Loving You More since '94 Valentine's Ball
Last but not least, the members of the Kappa Chapter of Alpha Pi Omega, The Kappa Queen Bees, are hosting a ball that will take place on Friday, Feb. 19 from 9 p.m. through to 1 a.m. at the Native American Longhouse Eena Haws. Ticket prices are $10 for a single and $15 for couples with refreshments provided. There will be prizes raffled off at the event and the first 52 people to purchase tickets get free raffle tickets, with raffle tickets also being sold at the ball.
