There are two types of people when Sweetest Day and Valentine’s Day roll around. The one type of person loves everything there is to love about these days -- the teddy bears, the chocolates, the flowers, the love letters, the fancy dates -- you name it, they like it. Now, on the other hand, the other type of person wishes that just for these days they didn’t have to exist. They think that the days are super overrated and just simply are a waste of time. They argue that any day is a good day to remind that special someone that you love them. So in other words, these two types of people could be categorized as single vs. in a relationship.
1. Waking Up Valentine’s Day Morning
Taken: If you aren’t with your special someone, you’ll wake up to a mushy text from your significant other telling you how perfect you are and how much they love you and a bunch of other mushy stuff. You’ll be so soaked into the cuteness, you’ll totally ignore the fact that everyone on your Facebook is gonna have a newsfeed full of Valentine’s pictures, but you don’t care and snap a screenshot and post the text to Facebook with a mushy description and watch the likes climb. If you’re with your significant other, they’ll make you breakfast in bed and present you with presents at this time, that you too will post to Facebook with a mushy status.
Single: You’ll wake up to see all those mushy posts on Facebook and tell yourself that you’re not gonna like a single one, even if it is a post from a close friend whose relationship is goals. You just can’t. So you text your best friend who is also single and have a conversation like this one.
2. Prime Date Time
Taken: You get all dolled up in your fancy dress, diamond jewelry, and high heeled shoes. Watching your significant other do the same and fall in love with them as you realize they look so beautiful/handsome. You’re all psyched for dinner at that fancy restaurant with some candle light and slow dancing.
Single: You go on your daily jog, trying to (but not being successful at) dodge the lovey dovey couples all around you -- hugging, kissing, holding hands. You get home, and order Chinese food to be delivered. You order enough food to make it look like you have someone special, but secretly you’re going to eat all of that plus that heart box of chocolate you bought for yourself on your trip to the store earlier while you binge watch Netflix as you sip on your wine, and are super content with yourself after going out in the world and had to face all those couples. *shudders*
3. Going To Bed
Taken: You replay your lovely adventures with said significant other, and even cuddle with the teddy bear they bought you just for the night if you’re in bed alone. If you’re with that person, you’ll probably end the day with a bunch of “I love you’s” and cuddles, and you’ll probably still sleep with that teddy bear that they got you.
Single: You finally manage to get off the couch and finally use the bathroom, all to go lay back down in bed after your eventful day and long marathon on Netflix (hey...you gave your eyeballs a good workout, you go girl!). You may be super full and feel like a stuffed turkey, but you go to bed happy knowing that you can be just as happy as all the love birds in the world, even if you aren’t in a relationship.
