This month brings us the most rewarding holiday of the year for women - Valentine's Day. For the man, this day means nothing but buying a box of chocolates, maybe a teddy bear, and whatever oogly crap with hearts on it that will give his lady the feels. But for the lucky lady, this must be like a second Christmas. Think about it. The girl gets a free dinner, a bunch of tacky gifts and an Instagram post that's sure to get 100+ likes if she uses the right filter.
The love-struck young lady must imagine that her man spent all of January planning this date. He probably booked reservations at her favorite restaurant weeks in advance. He probably searched through every single gift shop (cough "Walgreens" cough) looking for the right box of chocolates. He even compared all the teddy bears in town making sure that he bought her one that is perfectly suited for her torso. He's the best.
Being a person who has spent the last two Valentine's Days in a relationship, I can tell you that no matter how much you mean to him, he is not thinking about Valentine's Day until the day before, at best. Cut him some slack, though. He's probably got a job with a demanding schedule. He has got schoolwork to do, just like you. He's got a lot of things on his mind... like what you two are going to be doing after your romantic dinner.
In honor of this intimate holiday, here are some songs that I recommend you two listen to after your Valentine's Day dinner. Guys, make this playlist now so you can have one less task on your list come February 14th.
The Weeknd - Or Nah -- Start it off with a song she knows all the lyrics to (but will never admit it).
112 - Anywhere -- This song is from 1999. Singers could say nasty things and still get played on the radio. Also, waterbeds were still in style.
R-Kelly - Bump N Grind -- Naturally.
Flight Facilities - Crave You -- Electronic and a little wompy, but still soft enough to break it down.
Kid Ink - Break It Down -- If you need break it down even further.
Drake - Practice -- Drake samples Juvenile's "Back That Ass Up" and slows it down.
James Blake - Retrograde -- Threw this one on here for the ladies. You're welcome.
Sam Smith - Lay Me Down -- Currently my favorite song (No shame). The last minute of this ballad can only be described as an intense build up into a rewarding ending.
112 - Peaches & Cream -- Brownie points if she knows the lyrics.
Ludacris - Splash Waterfalls -- Even the clean version of this song makes me feel like I should wash my hands.
P-Reign feat Drake - DnF -- If you can't figure it out from the song, look up the meaning of "DnF." Jeez.
Danny Brown - I Will -- Listen and learn.
Pretty Ricky - On The Hotline -- This one will hit home if you're in a long-distance relationship.
Juvenile - Back That Ass Up -- Mentioned this song earlier. The title says it all.
Twista - I'm A Winner -- Sounds like one long tongue twister. Bet you can't rap it.
J. Cole - In The Morning -- Weird song. J. Cole clarifies his intentions with a young lady, and Drake talks about... riding horses? I dig it.
The Weeknd - The Morning -- Finish back where you started.
