As a species, the human race has been given one of the greatest gifts we could ask for. Language. Our form of communication is something people don't stop to analyze often enough and something many people fail to realize is our biggest weapon. With words alone, you can make or break someone's day. You can change minds, inspire, and open doors with words. We have truly opened up a whole new world with the utilization of language.
There seem to be no limits as to what we can do with our words. So many positive things have been accomplished with words alone but something else people fail to realize is that we must be cautious with the ones we choose. I've witnessed it and experienced it all too many times. Words have the ability to build amazing things but they also have the power to destroy. Destroy relationships, families, opportunities, etc. If more people took the time to consider just how powerful language can be I think we would all use it a little more cautiously.
Once the words leave your mouth it is impossible to take them back. No matter how many times you apologize and try to take it back. No matter how much you regret it and say you didn't mean it. I've seen entire relationships crumble because something was said that can't be taken back. People forgive but they never forget that horrible thing you said to them because the reality of it is; words hurt.
So the next time you're blind with rage take a step back, think about what you are going to say and who you are going to say it to. Are you ready to lose this person because you're angry? Are you ready to have them look at you differently because you felt the need to say something hurtful? Words are beautiful, yet terrifying. Words can inspire, and destroy. Words can act as a life raft in the heart of the storm or they can be the storm itself. Be wise with your language for it is a great responsibility we have been gifted with.
