Finally, finals week has come and gone and we're still alive, yet again. Well, I guess I should say mostly alive. Speaking in a technical way. And how did I survive, you may ask? By utilizing the great tools of all college students of course! Copious amounts of caffeine, preemptively admitting defeat, and binge-watching Netflix to hide my depression. It was a great week. And because of Netflix, I was able to re-watch one of the best shows to have been on TV, "The Office." I thought it would be a good way to celebrate finals being done by listing my top 11 characters from "The Office."
14. Andy "The Nard Dog" Bernard.
Andy is starting us off at number 11 because of two things. First off, I thought he was just a crazy guy from Stanford who wasn't going to go anywhere in the show after season three. Secondly, during his mid-llife crisis in season nine he lost a lot of respect that I felt he had built up. But come on, how can anyone not love those acapella pipes on this dude?
13. Phyllis Lapin-Vance.
Phyllis is always great as I never know what to expect of from her. Sometimes when I feel like she could be the voice of reason, she comes out with something from left field! She's sitting here at 10 because of her other half, Bob Vance. Bob's kind of a dick and I can't believe Phylllis went for that.
12. Erin Hannon.
Erin. She's lively. She's adorable. And she's hilarious. Its hard to find something negative to say about her. I only wish she could have been included in the cast earlier.
11. Stanley Hudson.
Stanley my man! He's without a doubt the king of sass. Quiet in nature, but fierce in heart. When this gentle, rosey-eyed, living god spoke up, you knew for sure you better be listening.
10. Angela Martin.
Angela was one of the tough characters to rank for me. As a self-proclaimed cat person myself, she's the light of my life. But what she put my boy Dwight through can't be forgiven that easily.
9. Kevin Malone.
Between Kevin's love of homemade chili, pretty girls, and any food that's not a vegetable, he's my spirit animal. He also brings a nice balance to the financial department, although how much he does there is still up to question.
8. Oscar Martinez.
I think it's only right to follow up Angela and Kevin with Oscar. Probably the most levelheaded guy in the office, Oscar always seems to know what to do. Although he might try to hide it sometimes, the love for his coworkers always shines through.
7. Pam Halpert.
Pam, a classic. We've seen her grow in so many ways throughout the seasons. It's so great to see her transform from a shy meek receptionist, to a strong independent salesman, and then to the self titled position office administrator. Who doesn't enjoy an underdog story?
6.v2 Darryl Philbin.
Speaking of underdogs, that brings me to Daryl and I knew right where he had to go on my list. Coming from the warehouse where he was respected by, and had respect for, his fellow warehouse coworkers always warms my heart. I wish I could be half the man he is.
5. Michael Scott.
Michael Gary Scott. The man. The myth. The legend himself comfortably slides in at number four without any hesitation. He really made the show for a lot of people. The amount of true love he has for his employees was unchallenged, and even though they questioned his tactics, they were there to support him.
4. Creed Bratton.
Creed. I don't think I have to say anything else about why he's here and ranked what he is.
3. Jim Halpert.
Big Tuna takes third. I love Jim for so many reasons. One of the biggest positives about him is his determination to never give up. From pulling pranks on Dwight, to finding whatever he can do that doesn't have to do with work, to showing his love for Pam. Jim always finds a way.
2. Dwight Shrute.
Number two, my boy Dwight! Besides being a lover of bears, beats, and Battlestar Galactica, he genuinely cares for his coworkers, even if he doesn't always show it. His style is also beyond compare, I need to get ahold of his shirt guy.
1. Toby Flenderson.
No, this isn't a mistake, Toby is number one for me. I don't know anyone who would come into work time and time again after having dealt with what he has. All he wants is to help and be friends with everyone. How can anyone, besides Michael, not like him?
