As an SEC school Mississippi State has all the sports we care about in the SEC + a few extra. From football to women's soccer, we truly have it all but aside from our major sports did you know that our university has a wide variety of club teams with sports many people don't even know exist?
1. Archery
This one did not come as a huge shock to me as it might for others, but yes Mississippi State has an archery team. You can find them on OrgSync as the Archery Dawgs for more information.
2. Bass Fishing
This is the south, so if you're surprised then I am surprised at you. Yes, we have bass fishing and yes, we are good at it. Tournaments have already started, but I'm sure they would still love your support and maybe you participation next year.
3. Fencing
Also known as the "Dueling Dawgs," this club sport really caught me off guard. When I picture fencing, I picture Annie and Halle in The Parent Trap and not college students, but many cheers for the guys and gals on this team.
4. Men's Rugby
A new favorite of mine - rugby. I'm not going to lie, my friends and I went to a game (match?) a few days ago and I was not expecting what I saw, but I am so glad I went. A mom on the sidelines happily explained the game to me and let me tell you - everyone needs to go watch our team. It's a fun sport to watch and it will keep you on your toes the whole time, just make sure you bring a blanket or chair!
5. Swimming
Another personal favorite mainly because I swam in high school and also their website is a win. The club swim team is relatively new, but by the looks of it doing pretty well for itself.
6. Table Tennis
If you weren't aware - table tennis is actually a huge sport and I'm kind of annoyed this is a club team and not a university team because we could probably recruit a good bit of people for it. Anyone can join (even faculty), but only students can participate in official matches.
