Best. Decision. Ever.

I will admit that I was in your same place one year ago. I had always thought to myself and told others that the sorority life was simply not for me. I signed up for recruitment at the last minute with low expectations, quite frankly believing that I would regret it. Well, little did I know that it would end up being one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life (cliche, but SO true). With that being said, here I am now highly encouraging all rising freshmen to absolutely go for it for all of the reasons I've listed, along with so many more!

1. To be held accountable for keeping that GPA up

@troyagd/Instagram

Grades matter!!! If you're struggling, there's probably a sister in the class with you or an older one that took the class before you. They'll be happy to help. There are study halls, grade sheets, AND rewards for 4.0s as well!

2. To be held accountable for growing in your faith

This one was personally big for me, as I knew that college was capable of providing so many distractions. I wanted to be able to grow spiritually and to remain on the right path that God had planned out for me. There are so many churches and campus ministries; you can always grab a sis and check different ones out. Within your sorority, you can also plan events like Night of Praise or set up weekly bible studies. It's honestly been such a blessing for me!

3. To be held accountable for making wise decisions

Everything that you do contributes towards the reputation that your sorority has. Not only will your girls hold you accountable for your best interest as any good friend would, but they will also be helping you to represent your letters in a well-mannered way that makes you and your chapter proud to wear them.

4. You'll always have some sisters to call on for help

@chiomegatroy/Instagram

From "Hey, will you bring me some soup" texts when you're feeling under the weather to cry/vent sessions when you need some advice or someone to simply listen, you know your sistas will come through for you.

5. PAN LOVE!

Short for Panhellenic love. Not only will you have your best girls in your sorority, you'll have plenty of opportunities to develop friendships with girls in other sororities.

6. It's an easy but great way to be involved on campus

@troyphimu/Instagram

By joining a sorority, you'll automatically have plenty of opportunities to be involved on campus. Your chapter will come up with endless creative ideas for campus wide fundraisers and philanthropy events. Bonus: This stuff will end up looking great on a resume, too!

7. I guess the 1,000,000 t-shirts that come along with it are pretty cool, too...

Comfort color tees = a blessing sent straight down from God, himself.

8. You'll never have to go anywhere alone

@troyaoii/Instagram

We girls know that it's dangerous to be out alone late at night. No worries though, you'll always have people to call up!

9. And of course you can't leave out the totally fun events!

Morgan Brown

Yes, this is typically the first thing that comes to mind with stereotypical sorority life. Although it really is not the most valuable part about it, there is no denying that the social events will be a blast!

10. Friends come and go, but you're stuck with your sisters FOREVER

@troyadpi/Instagram

Once a sister, always a sister. You can expect me to still be calling up my girls 25 years from now to meet for coffee after work or to take a road trip for a weekend beach vacation. There is something about that bond of sisterhood that'll make your sister friends truly unforgettable.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
