Ladies, if you say you have never compared the man in your life to a hotty from your favorite TV show, you're lying. Let's be honest, half the reason we even bother to watch the soap opera style shows we are so obsessed with is to witness the unrealistic declarations of love by the men we will forever compare our significant others to. Let's reminisce on a few of the men who have set the romantic bar unreasonably high.
1. Jess Mariano ("Gilmore Girls")
I'm not sure how Rory Gilmore did it, but she landed some of the greatest boyfriends known to man, and Jess is no exception. At first glance, Jess has few redeeming qualities. He skipped school, his car was essentially rust on wheels, he rarely replaced the scowl on his face with a different expression, and his attitude was too much for even some of the most sarcastic show fans to handle. Underneath that tough exterior, though, Jess had a quality all girls secretly want to run into. While he may not have liked anyone, he loved Rory. After all, who doesn't want to be the one to change a bad boy? And speaking of Rory's bad boy companions...
2. Logan Huntzberger ("Gilmore Girls")
My personal favorite, Logan was one of the best people for Rory. He challenged her, he knew what she was capable of, he defended her against his awful father (I'm still bitter toward Mitchum and his "You don't got it" speech), and overall, he changed his lifestyle to be with her. While he never quite lost his reckless demeanor, he tamed it just enough to be who Rory wanted him to be while adding the excitement and unpredictability she needed in her life. Logan never apologized for being who he was, and he brought Rory out of her shell and gave her the fearless edge she needed to become who she was meant to be.
3. Chandler Bing ("Friends")
We all have a Chandler in our lives. He knows how to wiggle comedy into any situation and really just wants to make the people around him laugh. I'm not sure that anyone saw the Monica/Chandler relationship coming, but where would we be these days without it? While he didn't take anything in his life seriously, he was seriously in love with Monica, creating one of the best TV romances of all time.
4. Jim Halpert ("The Office")
Jim and Pam are a classic case of best friends turned perfect couple. While they both denied their feelings for each other for quite some time, when they finally got together they were everyone's #relationshipgoals. Jim is the best guy friend that every girl dreams of having—not only is he incredibly cute, but he just wants what is best for Pam because he loves her while being in love with her (clearly there's a difference).
5. Chuck Bass ("Gossip Girl")
First things first: I dare you to find someone who looks as good as him in a suit. Chuck is a tortured soul who constantly pushes people away until Blair comes along. From early in the show, he is head over heels for her and, for the most part, never stops letting her know it. Chuck is bold, confident and loving, and we just can't help but love him.
6. Nathan Scott ("One Tree Hill")
If you've never thought "Where is my Nathan Scott?" you may be doing life wrong. Nathan had perhaps one of the worst role models imaginable (let's all be thankful Dan Scott wasn't our father) and still managed to be a great man, father and husband. Nathan went from total bad boy to total Prince Charming after meeting Haley and just kept getting better as time went on. He never stopped working to become a better person for Haley to be worthy of her. While perfection may not exist, Nathan Scott sure makes it seem like a possibility.
7. Stefan Salvatore ("The Vampire Diaries")
Stefan is sweet. Stefan is kind. Stefan is caring. Stefan is the boy we all want to run into at some point in our dating lives. While I was never the biggest #Stelena supporter, I can't deny that he was a great boyfriend to Elena. He was madly in love, fiercely loyal and always respected her opinions and decisions. If "The Vampire Diaries" were a fairy tale, albeit a dark one, Stefan would be Prince Charming hands down.
8. Damon Salvatore ("The Vampire Diaries")
Damon Salvatore—the holy grail of unrealistic expectations. He's ridiculously good-looking, extremely protective, unapologetically himself, and most importantly, over the moon in love with Elena. While the show starts with Damon in the villain seat, we quickly realize that Damon may have the biggest heart on the show, even if it is completely devoted to one person. We all want a little danger and spontaneity in our lives while being looked at as if we are perfection personified, and Damon provides all that and more for Elena. Excuse us as we swoon.
