Being an English major, I enjoy pretty much all types of writing, especially poetry. It allows you to express yourself and do so in a fun, creative way. I wrote this poem on my school's campus, which is located right on the beach.
Unreachable
The tide sweeps over the sand
through the pebble-covered land
trying to reach my exposed toes.
Trying.
An ocean full of desire
breaking on the ground
flowing on its surface
rushing toward me.
Not even the strongest of waves
breaking with the most power
can reach me.
None will reach me.
Boats can surge the sea
leaving massive gushes of water
to find the shore.
Even this cannot reach me.
The Gulls crow as they soar
watching the water waste away.
Even they know
the ocean cannot succeed.
The tide moves across earth's surface
reaching everyone
pulling them into the sea
but me.
The waves sob.
Why can't we reach you?
Waves, you cannot reach me.
You'll never reach me.
The tide keep running
speeding to my toes.
It cannot reach.
It will never reach.
The ocean has seized them all.
Everyone is on the other side,
but I,
I am not there
and I never will be.
Water stops flowing
the Gulls are silent.
I smirk,
staring at the lifeless sea,
I wonder what the future brings me.
