Unplugged Vs. Plugged In

Living unplugged is so much more fun.

A young couple is on a date at a fancy restaurant. However, both of them are not paying attention to each other, they are both looking at their cell phones. A young family is sitting in the living room watching a movie. The son is on his laptop playing a video game. The daughter is on her phone checking her text messages and social media. The father is checking the news on his phone, and the mom is playing games on her iPad. The family isn’t really spending time together or watching the movie. They are stuck in a social networking loop.

Why do we ignore the people around us for social media? Because of society’s addiction to social media, we end up missing opportunities of fun throughout our day. Couples miss out on spending time with each other when they choose to look aimlessly through their phones instead of enjoying their date night with each other. We are so worried about checking to see who texted or who is playing that new game that we miss the special moments with people who are right besides us.

People get so caught up in social media, wanting to have the most likes on their photos, wanting their life to be as perfect as the other person’s profile, needing to play a certain phone app as soon as they can, that they actually forget to live their life. We must start living life again instead of being plugged in. We need to start enjoying movies while not looking at our phones. We need to start going out on dates and paying attention to our significant other instead of our phones. Once we do this, the sun gets a little brighter, movies become more enjoyable, relationships get better and life in general becomes more enjoyable.

Trust me, it is so much more fun to enjoy the moment unplugged, instead of being plugged in.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
