The faces say it all! Our very own University of Tennessee Dance Team started 2015 off with a bang bringing home to Good Ol' Rocky Top the first place trophy in Jazz at the UDA Nationals in Orlando, FL!
After a long time coming, this passionate and hard working group of girls had the performance of a lifetime and left everything they had on the dance floor. The team's motto throughout their journey together has been "believe", and they proved that believing in yourself and each other is the ultimate key to success.
"I believed in us as a team and hearing it announced out loud made it so real. Doing it together was just the ultimate reward. I couldn't have asked for a better way to finish," senior, Cristin Lewis said.
Senior, Elizabeth Harwood, said, "It's such an honor to be a senior leader of this team. We worked so hard and were up against some amazing competitors. We are so grateful for the opportunity to represent our university and feel very blessed to be able to bring the National Champion title back to Knoxville!"
UTDT is proud to add 2015 to their 2007, 2008, 2009 UDA Division 1A Jazz National Champion titles and has phenomenally represented Big Orange Country throughout the last decade.
The three seniors going out as National Champs are Peyton Cheatham, Elizabeth Harwood and Cristin Lewis. Junior: Alison Hughes. Sophomores: Megan Goetz, Jackie Poulis, Jordyn Smalling, Sierra Williams, Kalee Simpson and Megan O'Malley. Freshmen: Ally Tuttle, Leigh McGee, Macy Katherine, Parker McCarron, Rachel Hughes and Ashley Robertson. UTDT includes four members of the Greek Panhellenic Community who all happen to be sisters of Phi Mu: Elizabeth Harwood, Megan Goetz, Jackie Poulis and Ally Tuttle. These talented girls were led to victory by Coach Kelley Tafazzoli.
Make sure you congratulate these awesome ladies if you see them on campus and GO VOLS!!
