Its about midway through the summer. The excitement of having no more classes is over. Your big dreams for three months of pure unadulterated fun lay dead at the wayside while you sit in your slump of laziness. I'm sure we all know the feeling. This summer, nip your sloth in the bud with these 15 unique ideas sure to help you make the most of your summer.

1. Make a new friend

Come on, who doesn't need more friends?!

2. Go for a drive with no clue where you're going

Grab a friend and get lost!

3. Create your own recipe

Even if it doesn't end well.

4. Take a nap outside

Nothing's better than a little cat nap in the great outdoors (no pun intended).

5. Perform an act of service for a stranger

Whether its holding the door open for someone, complimenting them or paying for their groceries, you never know how a simple action may impact a person's day. Go a step farther and ask only that the person pays it forward.

6. Wake up early and watch the sunrise

There is something truly remarkable about breathing in the cool morning air while you sit and watch the dark sky turn into a ball of fire ... it makes waking up to your five o'clock alarm totally worth it.

7. Send a handwritten letter to someone who really needs it

With instant communication, writing letters may seem useless, however you can't deny the fact that getting real mail is the best feeling ever.

8. Go an entire day barefoot

The dirtier your feet, the better.

9. Make homemade ice cream from scratch

Sooooooo good. Enough said.

10. Read that book you haven't been able to find the time for

I know we all have that one book that we've tried to read like 10 times but never finished because school or work got in the way. This summer, finish it.

11. Offer food, drink, money, or other necessities to a homeless person rather than passing them up

Basically, just be your brother's keeper.

12. Pick up a new hobby

Don't we all need to work on our skillz? Yuussssssss.

13. Forget that you even own a phone while in the company of those you love

As my parents always told my siblings and me, "Be present to the people you're with."

14. Sing and dance in the pouring rain

What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again.

15. Tell someone you love them

Life is just too short not to.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
