Unique Halloween Costumes For College Students

It is that time of year again...Halloween: the time to dress like whatever you want, but since you are in college, you are always dressing up between themed parties and mixers. This makes it almost impossible to come up with an original idea. Here our some ideas that are perhaps just close enough to be unique:

FOR THE GROUP OF GIRLS

"Pretty Little Liars":

Why not dress up as the sassy and stylish cast of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars." Most of us have been watching the show since 10th grade and although it really desperately needs to end, why not live the melodramatic lives of Allison, Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily. Spoiler Alert **, You can also dress up as A, aka Ce Ce.

"Bring It on":

Yes, being a cheerleader for Halloween is so unoriginal but being a cheerleader as the cast of "Bring It On" makes it a little more interesting. We have all memorized the opening song in the movie so dress up as T-T-Torrance, Missy, Big Red and even their rival team the Clovers.

FOR THE GROUP OF GUYS

"Entourage":

Every friend groups dream, to live the lifestyle of Vince, E, Turtle, Johnny Dramma, and Ari Gold. Wear similar outfits and live out that dream for one night.

"Blue Mountain State":

Another dream guys would love to live in their college years. Yes, being a football player completely overrated but not if you are Thad Castle, Sammy the mascot, Alex Moran, and Craig. Party like you are in the goat house.

FOR THE GROUP OF FRIENDS

"Gossip Girl":

Why not be Manhattans elite for the night and be the most dramatic, scheming, fashionable group of friends. xoxo

"Breaking Bad":

We all wish this show didn't end. With its incredible fifth season and our heartthrob Jesse Pinkman, it is simply unforgettable. So dress up as your favorite character and relive one of television's biggest hits.

FOR COUPLES:

"Dora and Diego"

Cute, quirky, and original; Dress up as the Nick Jr. show with your significant other. You two probably watched as five-year-olds anyway.

"The OC":

My personal favorite show and I am sure many others. "Welcome to the OC bitch!" and lets re-live the Harbor School, kissing booths, overdoses, your mother sleeping with your ex, the epic love of Summer and Set, and Christmakah. Dress up with your significant other and another couple and be the best thing that has ever happened in the early 2000s.

FOR YOURSELF:

Pop Art:

If you are good at art/make up, this is a perfect unique costume opportunity. There are many websites online that teach you how to do makeup so you can look as good as the girl in this photo.

President of your University:

I think it would be fun and interesting to dress up as the president of your university or college, so for UMD you would of course be the beloved President Loh. You may even be able to get a selfie with your alter ego.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
