Unidentifying With African-American

The simple misuse of one term has left black America in an unconscious state of mind.

Social titles have disrupted the conscience state of a nation and I'm talking about the nation of people stolen from their native land and brainwashed into a culture of lies. What we identify with, or titles we chose to accept, play a major part in the movement of black lives in America. Titles such as African-American, are used in an improper form and because of issues like that not being dealt with is why no change has happened in America for blacks. Yet, the black community remains silent. Simply put, because we identify as freed slaves (African-American) and accepting this title, blacks willingly agree to systematic slavery and systematic genocide!

The term African-American was created in 1988 by Jesse Jackson to make black people feel equal in the face of racism. So now, you have Chinese-Americans, Asian-Americans, and African-Americans.These titles are very misleading terms. Here's why the term African-American is misleading. Slavery is older than America. Slavery started in the colonies August 20, 1690. America was founded July 4, 1776. Let me tell you, our ancestors were not considered American, let alone African-American. So, if the slave owners which founded America are American then how can you call yourself or accept being an African-American. How can you be the slave and slave owner? I believe African-American should be translated as African slave, that's basically what we are saying and accepting when you look at the facts.

To understand this, you have to realize that the so-called African-American thinks their history starts at slavery. But, before our ancestors were slaves, who were they? Where did they come from? Whether you claim your African background or claim the indigenous background, what is black America cultural and historical distinctiveness from other populations?

Why do you think the Asian-Americans or Chinese-Americans don't get killed in America? Because they are groups protected in International or National legislation as having a set of specific rights solely based on their linguistic and historical roots to their territory. In simple terms, different cultures identify with these titles but understand that it's a title and under the terms of this title, have freedom in the states. If this title is in any way broken, they can be deported back to the native land. If the police were killing little Chinese boys or Asian boys, they would have to answer to international laws and courts. Black Americans have no culture or nation to defend or protect them from genocide in America. Nobody is speaking up for black lives in America because who are they? Where did they come from?

It's not that hard to find out the truth, but first, you have to acknowledge the facts. Our change is not going to come from protesting or marching, we need action after the protest. Such as supporting black owned businesses, building in our communities and most important, re-educating the youth. These are just small stepping stones to increase survival among Black Americans, and to decrease incarceration and violence. Time to put action into our words, Black America has to be Black America’s first priority. If we keep empowering and depending on our oppressors for help, then we will never truly be free from oppression.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
