The Art of Understanding Your Worth

Knowing your worth is easy. It is easy to sit there and say the things that you KNOW you deserve. It is a completely different thing to be able to think about those things and practice that understanding in our daily lives. It has taken me a long time to comprehend the difference between knowing and understanding my worth. However, I have seen changes in myself that have proven a deeper understanding of my worth and what I truly deserve to get out of life. Here are some of ways to go from simply knowing what you want, to having some ideas as to how to get them!

1. Make time for you.

I think this is so important and yet so overlooked by people. I have such a busy life and there used to be so many days where I did not spend more than five minutes alone. It was going to class, work, and home to my roommates. While it is important to spend time with the people you love, you need to make time for yourself too. Pick up a hobby! Just set aside even an hour of your day to dedicate to that hobby and enjoying yourself. Even if all you want to do is sit on your bed and do absolutely nothing, then do it! A daily dose of "me time" allows your to prioritize yourself for a little while and take a break from whatever is going on in your life.

2. Start with SMALL changes.

I know it seems like I want you to make major changes in your life, but it actually the opposite. Start with small changes (like picking up a hobby, adding "me time"). My small changes were waking up earlier, working out, and eating a more balanced diet. Those were things that I worked into my daily routine and cherish about my day. These small changes will make the biggest differences and add value to your day. They are things you should look forward to doing or things you are passionate about! Remember, small but significant changes!

3. Learn how to say NO!

This is my biggest problem and something I still struggle with. The most important lesson to learn on the path to self-love and awareness is, we teach others how to treat us by how we treat ourselves. If are you unhappy with your interactions and outcomes of those with others, do something about it and step up your game! Treat yourself with the respect, love and attention you wish to gain from others and watch them fall in line. If they do not, then let them go! Your personal growth will attract the right kind of people who will value and respect you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
