Many seniors in high school are pretty anxious about their next steps in life. For some of them, they will be going to college for an extra four years. Within those students, some of them will be able to experience college for one night, they are considered "overnight students". Those students would basically experience college life in one night. Although they only experience what happens on a Friday night, they don't experience what happens on a day-to-day basis when it comes to staying in a dorm.
When it comes to college, one would think they can do whatever they want. In a way you can do whatever you want but, there are many people who are in charge and will state as such. Like, there are Resident Advisors, which are the ones that are in charge of the floor in the dorm. There are hall directors, they are the ones who are over the Resident Advisors. What these people do is, they are in charge of the whole dormitory and what goes on in that dorm. Now, some students will get a relatively mean Resident Advisor and some will get a cool Resident Advisor. The students are not able to choose Resident Advisors but, if that student does not like that Resident Advisor, they can give them a bad rating when they do a survey about them. If the student really wanted to get away from that Resident Advisor, they are more than welcomed to move to another dorm, only if that dorm has an opening.
College is a wonderful place to be, it is where the student will get to know who they are without their parents around. College is where students can have fun with as many friends as they would like. But if that student does too much, to the point where the Resident Advisor starts to snoop around, that means the student is more than likely to get in trouble. All this to say, although the student will be away from their parents, there are people who may take their parent's place. Students can have as much fun as they would like outside of the dorm, just as long as the police doesn't see them.
For all of the students who will be graduating from high school, finish the year out strong! Have fun and stay safe, college is fun and all, just don't do a lot to the point where your life is in danger.
