With Hollywood movies stealing the limelight in everyday media it is easy for indie films to be overshadowed. This is a shame, really, because I have discovered that some of the best movies in the industry either don't have much publicity, or they originate from independent filmmakers.
So, don't forget to appreciate a few of the hidden gems in the movie industry and take some time out of your life to watch these great films that all range from different genres.
1. Me Earl and The Dying Girl
A movie about friendships that is both funny and emotional. The added bonus is it’s filmed in the coolest of locations.
2. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night

3. Adult World
Starring Emma Roberts, John Cusack and Evan Peters, this movie about making it on your own in the adult world will make you laugh and will make you realize that maybe you aren't the only one having a hard time trying to grow up.
4. The Stanford Prison Experiment
The intensity of Zimbardo’s experiment that was conducted in 1971 is brought to life, and will have your attention fully captivated.
5. Six Years
This movie has a great soundtrack and brings to life the ups and downs that even the cutest of relationships have.
6. Anna Karenina
Kierra Knightly and Aaron Johnson bring to life a high-society scandal affair based on the 1878 Leo Tolstoy novel. The costumes and different scene changes in this movie will make you fall in love with this film.
7. What If
This indie rom-com is funny, witty and will make you want to move to the city of Seattle.
8. Far From The Madding Crowd
See what happens when one of the works of Thomas Hardy comes to life, and a beautiful Victorian girl has to choose between three very suitable bachelors.
9. Kings of Summer
If you're looking for a comedy- definitely check this movie out. This movie is easily one of the best "act of independence" movies out there.
10. Under The Skin
The strangest movie you will probably ever see. Chances are you will end up loving it, but you won't really know why.
