For me, this week marks finals week. So, crying into a bowl of pasta and wearing a textbook as a hat. But I digress. One of my favorite Netflix original series is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It's hilarious, heartwarming, and has some golden nuggets of wisdom embedded in moments of strangeness and humor. While these quotes can be used to motivate me to finish out finals week, they can also apply to anyone who is riding the good ole struggle bus.

"Life beats you up. You can either curl up in a ball and die, like we thought Cyndee did that time, or you can stand up and say, 'we're different. We're the strong ones and you can't break us."

Sometimes life makes you want to just give up, makes you want to crawl under the blankets and call it quits. It's a common occurrence, trust me, I know. While it is important to take a break and care for yourself, it is also important to never stop trying. You are strong.

"I'm pretty but tough, like a diamond. Or beef jerky in a ball gown."

I can't tell you how much I relate to this quote. Not only is it because Titus's confidence level is goals, but this is what I remind myself when I feel like I'm going to break. I am tough, I am beautiful. I am beef jerky in a ball gown.

"You can't put a price tag on self-respect."

It's true. Sometimes you have to step back and ask yourself, "am I treating myself with respect?". Drink water, eat regularly, and take small breaks out of your day to do something you enjoy. Love yourself!

"Kimmy, the sooner you quit something that stinks, the sooner you can find something that doesn't. Save your hope for that."

Sometimes the thing that is keeping us down in the dumps is not ourselves. Meaning, we could be holding onto an unrealistic goal, a relationship that just isn't working, or the loss of a loved one. Be like Elsa and let it go. You'll be better off for it.

"I envy you. I've never been able to meet me."

You are unique, beautiful, wonderful. You are unlike anyone else in the world. So take pride in your uniqueness. You are strong, and you can get through this!

"I have hope. I survived in a bunker for 15 years. I don't quit."

Hold onto hope, when everything feels bleak. Sometimes all you need is a little thing to help get you through a hard time.

" Smile until you feel better. I call it Kimmying."

Sometimes you have to fake it till you make it. Sometimes smiling or saying positive things to yourself is enough to change your mindset and help you get through something.

"I still believe the world is good, bunnies are nice, and snakes are mean, and that one day, Sandra Bullock will find someone who deserves her."

It's very easy to lose hope in humanity. But at the end of the day there are still some very good things within it- like bunnies, puppies, candy, etc. And if what you're struggling with has to do with love, one day, you will find someone who deserves you. Kimmy believes it.

"We're just covering up our problems. In order to fix ourselves, we have to start right here. Find that small Unbreakable You inside yourself."

Sometimes you get so absorbed in the distractions of life you ignore something that's actually going wrong in your life. Set out your priorities, and find that small inner voice that tells you to go out and do it!

"You get to live your life the way you want... No one gets to tell you what to do."

At the end of the day, it's your life. Don't listen to the people who are trying to bring you down or tell you what to do. As long as it doesn't hurt you or anyone else, do what you want! Make goals for yourself and yourself alone.

And finally, but certainly one of my favorites...

"Just take it ten seconds at a time. Everything will be okay."

Take baby steps with whatever you are going through. Don't try to tackle things all at once. One thing at a time, ten seconds at a time. Focus on what's in front of you, not what's ahead of you. And my dear readers, you will be fine. Whatever task you have ahead of you- finals, bills, job searching, raising a kid, whatever- find that Unbreakable You.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
