Un-Affordable Health Care

'ObamaDontCare'

The Un-Affordable, erhm, Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, should be re-titled ObamaDontCare, or the ever continuing March of the Deathocrats.

Obamacare, the law where the smartest man on the planet said if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor. I guess no one liked their doctor because now you can not keep your doctor.

Then the smartest man on the planet said if you like your plan then you can keep your plan. I guess no one liked their plan.

Then they named it Affordable. Of course, if you consider having to pay large deductibles and absorb 25 percent to 100 percent premium increases as affordable, I wonder what you think would be unaffordable.

Then when the premium rate increased his (and I'm including the entire government here not just supposedly the smartest man within it) announced their first defense to the public uproar...it was under-priced at the start.

What are you saying it should have been UNaffordable from the start? Are you suggesting that with all the resources of the United States Government and your own administration at your disposal you couldn't get the pricing right the first go around? You messed up? Oops, try again?

The smartest man on the planet figured out though the sheer power of his intellect — that he could change ingrained human behavior through the use of punishment (i.e penalties), but I thought he was against torture? Now the outcry from the Deathocrats is they failed to impose significant enough penalties. Doesn't anybody read these things....ooh please see Nancy Pelosi on that one.

For this 'Obamantion' to work, human behavior itself would have to either spontaneously change (i.e healthy young people spend money on insurance), or you torture them to do so through draconian penalties. Anyone remember the land of the free?

So how to make heath care costs affordable? Let me be clear, if you wish to reduce the cost of health care, then you need to have less health care. Just like global warming, if you believe man causes global warming, then less people would result in less global warming. If there are less people then less people need health care. Now if the Deathocrats fail to cull the population, then you reduce the cost of health care by having less health care delivered, and as they do in Great Britain, delist life extending drugs because it costs to much. But something tells me the Deathocrats will exempt themselves from such a draconian system in the name of making sure their clearly better genes continue to pollute the pool.

So the great designer thought he could change human behavior through legislation. But even the smartest person on the planet can not with a stroke of a pen change human behavior, not without invoking Khmer Rouge tactics, in which case the solution is merely less humans.

Problem solved. I leave you with a soliloquy of sorts.

The ObamaDontCare Blues

I had a doctor, she was oh so sweet

My policy was solid, paid her bills, got me my pills

Then Obama had a thought

'Coverage for all' could be bought

So the Republicans he fought

Beat the Deathocrats

Oh the Deathocrats

So eventually they said...why naught?

Obama, he said I could keep my sweet doctor

Obama, he said I could keep the plan that paid her bill

Obama, he said and said and said and said

But no one read...

They called it affordable

Thought it affordable

Some grubby guy designed it

Sold it as a con bit

But now my sweet doctors gone

The plan left me anon

Costs are up, up and away

and ObamaDontCare what I've gotta pay.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
