Everyone loves a little romance. If you’re looking to start something up with your crush, or want some romantic mood music for when you’re driving around at night with your beau, I’ve got you covered!
1. "No One’s Gonna Love You" by Band Of Horses
"It's looking like a limb torn off, or all together just taken apart. We're reeling through an endless fall. We are the ever-living ghost of what once was."
I first heard this song in the Disney movie, "Prom," that came out in 2011. It was played during a scene in which two of the characters slow danced in a parking lot. I fell in love with this ballad instantly, with its swaying sound and loving words. It spoke to me and just made me want to hold my love close.
2. "Love On The Brain" by Rihanna
"Oh, and baby I'm fist fighting with fire / Just to get close to you / Can we burn something, babe? / And I run for miles just to get a taste…"
This song is fairly new. It is a very light, lovely song and makes for perfect background to any romantic moment. Personally, I always imagined this to be for stargazing or slow dancing. But then, you're reading an article written by the hopeless romantic.
3. "The Weakness In Me" by Joan Armatrading
"I'm not the sort of person who falls in and quickly out of love, but to you I gave my affection right from the start."
I first heard this song in the movie, "10 Things I Hate About You." It was played after Patrick hurt Kat, and he was watching and missing her. I love this song for its honest lyrics and catchy tune. It is easily memorized and would be a sweet thing to sing to your love.
4. "H.O.L.Y" by Florida Georgia Line
"You're the healing hands where it used to hurt, you're my saving grace, you're my kind of church. You're holy."
I always imagined dancing to this song at my wedding. It has such an innocent quality to it and it, too, has honest and relatable lyrics that are catchy and easy to remember. Go country!
5. "From The Ground Up" by Dan + Shay
"Grandma and grandpa painted a picture of 65 years in one little house. More than a memory, more than saying "I do," kiss-you-goodnights, and I-love-yous. Me and you baby, we'll walk in their footsteps. We'll build our own family one day at a time."
This is another song I would dance to at my wedding. It has such a sentimental quality to it and helps to invoke musings from any couple (or person, really) who listens to it. I always imagined laying under the stars at night and just drinking this song in.
6. "Something Just Like This" by Coldplay & The Chainsmokers
"She said 'where'd you wanna go? And what you wanna risk? I'm not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts. Some superhero, some fairytale bliss. Just something I can turn to, somebody I can miss. I want something just like this."
This song is quite new, too. It is honest and catchy. It reminds me of Beauty and The Beast, since the main singer is talking about how he doesn’t see himself as anything special, but his girlfriend/potential love interest really and truly does.
7. "All The Young Dudes" by Mott The Hoople
"He's a real mean teen. But we can love. Oh, yes, we can love."
I heard this song in the movie Juno. Juno and Mark are slow dancing in Mark’s basement to it, and Mark tells her that he also danced to it at his senior prom. While this song isn’t necessarily about love and romance, it has a sweet sounding quality that creates the perfect mood.
8. "Angel" by Shaggy
"Girl, you're my angel, you're my darling angel. Closer than my peeps you are to me, baby."
This one is a classic. It tells it like it is and says what all men feel about their girlfriends/fiances/wives. Need I say more? Although, I do feel that it is worth mentioning that women can feel this way about their significant others, too. This song is an equal-opportunity offender.
9. "Don’t Let It Go To Your Head" by Jordin Sparks
"Just 'cause I can't go on, just 'cause I die when you're gone, just 'cause I think of you in bed, don't let it go to your head."
This one speaks to the girls. It says about how she is in control of herself and of her emotions, and as such, she wants her beau to know that she and she alone is in control of when she lets herself get lost in him, while still making sure he knows that she loves him.
10. "The Great Escape" by Boys Like Girls
"Throw it away! Forget yesterday! We'll make the great escape!"
This is more of a feel-good song. This is one that makes you want to take your love by the hand and just run through a field or through the ocean with no real objective. Aww!!
