Resolutions are pointless, have a bucket list instead.

As 2016 has come to a close, I wanted to compile a list of things I want to accomplish in my life this year. Resolutions are pointless, I believe that we should continually change and work towards bettering ourselves, I started in November. But here are 45 things I hope to do in the New Year.
  1. Keep my grades up
  2. Sled for the first time (Florida Problems)
  3. Join a sorority
  4. Continue to get more fit (this is not something I am starting, but continuing)
  5. Live and let live.
  6. Don’t make any enemies
  7. Continue being the independent woman I strive to be
  8. But I also want to fall in love
  9. Get a position on the school paper
  10. Get a segment on the school radio station
  11. Don’t text the ex
  12. Bring my best friend home for spring break
  13. Travel more
  14. Try yoga
  15. Read more books
  16. Do something somewhat insane (leaving this pretty broad, insane can be left on many spectrums)
  17. Make more friends, more connections
  18. Take millions of pictures
  19. Cook more
  20. Hate a little less
  21. I won’t complain about my life, I am pretty fortunate
  22. Make a snow angel
  23. But also make a sand angel
  24. Don’t drink excessive amounts of soda
  25. Go to bed earlier
  26. Wake up earlier
  27. Work out almost everyday
  28. Allow my past not to haunt me
  29. Forgive those who have done me wrong, even if they never apologized
  30. Don't let boys be mean
  31. Write in a journal more
  32. Stop buying journals until the ones you own are filled
  33. Drink a whole bunch of water
  34. Keep less clutter
  35. Have an amazing soccer season
  36. Enjoy the small things in life
  37. Be happy when I get to come home, it’s not everyday I get to see a palm tree and sweat
  38. Re-learn to read music and play the piano
  39. Visit somewhere in my home states I have always wanted to see (Philly and St. Augustine are at the top)
  40. Take better care of my skin
  41. Love my body and not let it bother me
  42. Use my polaroid to capture life’s moments
  43. Learn to love being home again
  44. Smile, all the time
  45. And remember, conquer the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
