Dear Friends,

I hope everyone is doing well! I am freezing my butt off in an apartment without any heat, so it has been dandy so far. Anyways, Today I wanted to share some fun ideas for anyone that goes to the University of Delaware. There are many fun things to do on campus, whether you've been here for a few months or years. Newark has got a lot to offer, and you might as well explore it while you're living here for a few years. Here are my five favorite things to do on campus at UD.

1. Go to the Hen Zone.

The Hen Zone is a very fun place to visit on campus. From pool tables to various video game consoles, you can keep yourself entertained for a quite a while. If you're bored after getting dinner at CR, then you should go relax with some friends at the Hen Zone! They have board games, air hockey, fuse ball, ping pong tables, and so many other fun activities to try! Also, it's free! All you need is your UD ID and you can play whatever is available there. Seriously, I think the Hen Zone is underrated.

2. Chill out on the Harrington Turf.

This may not be a great thing to do right now with the cold weather, but when it is nice out the Harrington Turf is such nice place to sit and relax. Grab a towel/blanket, some snacks, maybe a football, and just enjoy the outdoors. In the spring semester it is the perfect place to go be outside. You can watch people play games, or grab a Subway sandwich at the P.O.D. if you're feeling hungry. You can even do work out there if you feel like it! The Turf is a great place just to get away from all the stress and work from classes. When it snows, you best believe it is a perfect place to build a snowman and have a snowball fight. Try it, seriously.

3. Get a snack at Perkins Student Center.

Perkins Student Center is usually always buzzing. You can sit in the Scrounge and grab a bite to eat! Whether it's Dunkin' or getting a burger with curly fries, this is a great place to get a quick snack between classes. I usually go here before some rehearsals or my lab to grab a coffee and chill with friends. You can chill in any of the lounges, or even sit in the lower level where they have tons of seats! It's a fantastic place to get work done if you really want to get out of the dorms/apartment. Perkins is the place to be friends.

4. Explore Main Street.

Main Street has so much to offer. There's Cheeburger Cheeburger, El Diablo, Chipotle, Barnes and Noble, Grotto's, Walgreens, 7/11, Brew Ha Ha, and so many other restaurants and stores. If you feel like having a meal somewhere besides the dining halls, definitely try out something on Main Street. Deer Park always has specials during the week such as half off burgers on Tuesdays or half apps on Mondays! There are so many options for eating food on this busy street, and there's also cute little stores to check out! Go get a haircut or go check out the surprisingly interesting board game store called Days of Knights. There are a lot of things that you can do here, so go check it out!

5. Get Some Chick Fil A at Trabant.

Ah Trabant. A great place to grab a meal after classes or to just sit and do nothing. If you are a fan of Chick Fil A, this is the place to be. They have that, burgers, subs, pizza, and other assortments of snacks and drinks. What's really great about this is that during the week from 8pm-11pm you can get something from Chick Fil A or Burger Studio using a meal swipe! No points necessary, just one meal swipe and you got yourself a sandwich, fries, and a medium sized fountain drink. It is the most beautiful thing that UD has offered the students in a long time if you ask me. Seriously, go use that meal exchange during the week. It is worth the walk.

Well, that's that! I hope you all enjoyed this article whether you go to UD or not. Maybe this will get people interested in visiting UD as a possible college option. Who knows. Anyways, I hope you all have an amazing day, and enjoy your week!

Your Friend,

Al

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
