Two Broads In A Broad City

I have three words for you: "YAS, YAS, YAS!"

Every once in a while, there comes a show that just gets it and is so beyond relatable, you have no idea what you were wasting your time watching before it. "Broad City" is three seasons deep and airs on Comedy Central and if you aren't already watching it, you should be. No other sitcom manages to cover a wide range of topics spanning from women's rights to how ~amazing~ Bed Bath and Beyond is in a hilarious and witty way. Here's why "Broad City" is the best.

1. Feminism is a major character trait for both Abbi and Ilana.

Ilana and Abbi are both very confident and aim to empower each other and other women. Whenever they're confronted by someone belittling them based on something trivial, like their gender, they don't let them get away with it without saying something.

2. They both find themselves in life moments everyone faces at one point or another.

Take for instance trying to talk to someone you like. Abbi had a huge crush on the guy who lives across the hall from her, Jeremy, and couldn't even talk to him without it being awkward. Everyone has acted weird around someone they liked, Abbi's struggles are struggles we all can empathize with.

3. They show what life will be (sorta) like after graduating college and being an adult.

Sure, it's not the most glamorous lifestyle but you can totally have fun and express yourself while you do it. It won't always be easy but with a great best friend by your side, nothing can bring you down.

4. Ilana and Abbi have a perfect BFF relationship.

The girls have each others back through every situation they face. Crappy boys, losing apartment keys and shellfish allergies can't keep these two down. If you don't want a relationship like theirs, you're lying.

5. You'll appreciate all the pop culture and real world references.

"Broad City" covers a lot of topics that are relevant to everyone in 2016, but not all their topics are overbearingly serious. The serious side of the show is still handled with comedy so it's never overbearing or too heavy.

6. Jamie is adorable.

Jamie (pronounced Hi-mey) is Ilana's Hispanic roommate who is one of the best side characters the show offers. He's dramatic, honest and super sweet. The episode where he becomes an American citizen will definitely leave you smiling.

Ilana and Abbi are just two girls making their way through New York. Broad City is as witty as its punny title and is a refreshing change from what's normally shown on television. The adventures they get into and how they handle them are oddly inspiring. You'll love every episode, they'll have you saying "Yas, Queen!"

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
