Twins Who Don't Look Like Twins

Growing up a twin is one of the coolest experiences in life. From literally day one, you have someone who is your best friend. I mean they are always by your side. Even though you're both independent people, you're still dependent on one another. Identical twins have the ability to play tricks on people. Fraternal twins however always get those doubtful looks that question if you're even related.

My twin and I look nothing alike, but that still doesn't mean we're not twins and can't act like twins. We still have "twin telepathy." No twin doesn't feel pain when the other one gets hurt. Twins do finish each other's sentences, know what each other is thinking, and can say things in unison. There are times when twins will even come out of different rooms wearing the same clothes.

When you're twins that look nothing alike, people will question if you really are twins. When fraternal twins meet new people together for the first time and you tell them your twins, there's an initial look of confusion. Then comes the questions of why don't you look alike or how can you be twins if you aren't identical. Some people go on to question if we're really related. My favorite response is "You're lying to me. I don't believe you at all."

Growing up being a twin means you've had at least one class together in school. Therefore the teacher/professor will ask you if you two have any relation since you do have the same last name, and are more than likely sitting together on the first day. Then the teacher/professor will proceed to tell you a story about twins.

You would think that since we look nothing alike, that people wouldn't get us confused with one another. The sad reality is that this happens more often than not. Parents, friends, and acquaintances somehow manage to get us mixed up. There comes a point where we (the twins) will both just answer to whichever name is called. So if you only want one of us, you will get both of us.

Being a twin puts you in this unique club that nobody else gets to be a part of. When twins meet other twins for the first time, it's this magical experience. Whether you're an identical twin or a fraternal twin, you and your twin have this special bond. You always have somebody to count on, be your best friend, and do life with.

So to all you twins out there, I'm glad to be a part of the twin club with you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
