Okay you Netflix addicts, Breaking Bad is over. Let's move on. Here is a list of the shows you should be binging on this summer.
1. Community
This is the show that refuses to die. By the grace of the internet gods, “Community” has been confirmed for a sixth season through Yahoo’s new try at Netflix, wittily titled “Yahoo Screen.” It is the sweet tale of an unexpected study group coming together to help each other through the ups and downs of community college. Many “fratstars” will recognize one of the main characters, Donald Glover, as the latest rap craze, “Childish Gambino.” I promise you this show will have you crying-almost-pee-your-pants-but-then-hold-it –so-only-a-little-bit-comes-out-and-you-can-play-it-off-cool laughing.
2. House of Cards
This is the series that political science majors refuse to shut up about, and with good reason. Frank Underwood’s malicious, yet undeniable like-ability makes you question your entire life, as well as your entire government. This show may help you BS at least a paragraph about Congress on your next poli-sci paper. Also it teaches you that escorting in DC seems to be a pretty solid back up plan if your journalism career falls through.
3. Orange is The New Black
If you haven’t seen the show, you have at least seen the crazy amount of gifs from it that Buzzfeed frequently uses. It is an intelligent “dramedy” riddled with thought provoking situations, like how far is too far with stalking and how you should not trust men with giant mustaches.
4. Broad City
This little known Comedy Central half hour show has to be the best new show CC has spit out since “Workaholics.” It follows two girls in their twenties trying to figure out life in New York City. But don't think this is your mothers “Sex in the City.” Illana and Abbi are obsessed with Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons, buying drugs from 14 year olds and both have no idea what exactly they want out of life. It’s exactly the right soul searching comedy every college kid should torrent.
5. How I Met Your Mother
Okay so maybe the series finale was several months ago and it’s not exactly on primetime anymore. But I, like most hardcore HIMYM fans, refuse to accept that dissatisfying backstabbing conclusion. This show makes me think of the friendships I have built and will continue to make in college. I hope to find my Marshall and my Ted at Oregon and can't wait until we’re all living in New York together and making the best memories out of our crazy scenarios. Also any frat guy will confirm the fact that Barney Stinson is not only THE MAN, but Legend- wait for it- Dary and pure awesome.
6. The Colbert Report
This is another favorite of political science majors. Stephen Colbert’s quick thinking wit provides a platform for surprisingly intelligent comedy about serious situations going on in the world. However any radical conservatives need not apply for this show, it is predominately liberal. However it is a parody show. I wish I could say the same for some Fox News talk shows. And thus the great Jon Stewart vs Stephen Colbert debacle continues, but anyway, it makes finding out about world news a more exciting and bearable task.
