TPUSA has made an impact in my life that I didn't think it was possible. I have always loved politics but never really had a group of individuals to share my thoughts and concerns. Through social interactions and preparing for our weekly campaign, I found my voice. It was an overwhelming process for me. Becoming President of TPUSA, at the University of West Florida, has been fun and such a huge learning experience. I have been able to grow and develop as a leader and learn so many techniques. I had people close to me find ways to break my confidence one day after another. The fear of saying the wrong thing really took a toll on me. TPUSA made it simple for me to speak up and stand my grounds.
They focus on speaking up and educating others, on real life issues that college student may not be aware of such as; healthcare act, socialism, taxation theft, minimum wage, war against big government, and capitalism are a few of my favorites. The issue that I see a lot of is that because we focus on more conservative issues, people refuse to listen to the issue or even debate it. This organization has helped me recognize and understand everyone's point of view and respect it. The one thing I've learn to ask is why? Why are YOU a Conservative Republican? A Democrat? A libertarian? Why do you defend your beliefs, as passionate as the left wing or right wing next to you? Everyone is fighting for something that they care for and they believe with all their heart. I think that should be a good enough reason to respect one another and hear each other out. TPUSA has given me that opportunity, to listen to every voice and ask why. Thank You Charlie, for having the courage and the love you do for your beliefs, that you made it possible for every young conservative to find their voice. I found my voice, a family, and courage. Most importantly thank you TPUSA, for showing me that being humble and respectful plays a big part in our campaigns.
