The first reaction when people see my family out together is, “Wow, I feel bad for you dad.” That statement is valid, considering everything my poor father has gone through having three daughters and a gorgeous wife. The amount of hormones he’s been exposed to, the girl talk he has been forced to listen to at dinner, the dramatic “problems” we all go through that he simply does not understand and worst of all, waiting for four girls to get ready.
Things may get a little crazy in my household sometimes, but I would not change that for the world. I grew up with two younger sisters and a mom. We are all makeup lovers and clothes hoarders so you can only imagine that household. My sisters and I have taken over that house, and I love it.
I could not imagine my life without my sisters. They are my best friends, and I talk to them about everything. I feel very lucky to have them in my life, and there is no one else I’d rather drive my mom, and especially my dad, crazy.
Having two sisters has its perks, and also its nightmares. Here are some truthful facts about life with my sisters:
1. You never have to worry about finding an outfit.
My sisters and I have a problem — we love to shop. We love keeping up with new fashion trends and expressing ourselves through our outfits. So whenever one is having an outfit dilemma, the other two are right there to help. We share each other’s clothes, shoes and accessories, as well as my mom's, so you always have four closets to choose from. And what girl doesn’t love that?
2. You’ll always get an honest (maybe too honest) opinion.
Want to know if those jeans make your butt look good? Oh, don’t worry, you’ll get told. We don’t hide our opinions. You may have an outfit on and be heading out, and get a “No I don’t like that” or “Those shoes don’t match” and you’ll either change or say “Ugh whatever” and continue out the door. Always having an honest opinion is so important to a girl, because if you’re like us – you don’t simply just try on one outfit and be done. I love my sisters for that.
3. They always have your back.
There is nobody who will have your back more than your sisters. That bond is unbreakable. If you ever need support for anything, you can count on your sisters. Whether it’s trying to convince your parents to let you do something, or want to go on an adventure, they’re always on your side.
4. They only want what’s best for you, so they give the truest advice.
Whenever one of us needs advice, we call each other. The amount of times we have posted in our group chat or physically FaceTime-d each other while at the mall or shopping to get each other’s opinion before we purchase stuff, I couldn’t count. Aside from fashion advice, you can always count on them to be bluntly honest with everything else. They only want what’s best for you, so advice about boys, school or just life – we have each other’s back, and we may tell you exactly what you don’t want to hear, but we do it because we love you.
5. They’ve known you forever, so they know you better than anyone.
Sisters have been there since the beginning, they’ve seen you through the awkward stages and know you inside and out. My sisters and I always go through old pictures together and laugh and tease each other. There is no one who knows you even as close as your sisters, they see you behind closed doors, at your truest self and still love you the same.
6. Like clothes, we also share the love for makeup.
We love beauty and makeup. My sisters have drawers and drawers of makeup and we love getting glam. One of my sisters is also a YouTuber so she has a whole glam room set up full of makeup with box lights, a tripod and everything. We are always helping each other, whether it’s, “Put these eyelashes on me, please!” or “Let me borrow your concealer.” I couldn’t imagine living without my sisters, I would probably be lost and behind in the beauty and style game.
7. It takes us a while to get anywhere.
Having to get ready with three girls gives everyone, especially my dad, a headache. Going through the hassle of choosing an outfit, doing our hair and getting our makeup perfect can take hours. I can’t even count the number of times when we’ve been traveling and we start to unpack and my dads face is priceless each time. We take over the bathroom and the room at the hotel so badly that he doesn’t even have room for his one bag. However, at least I’m not the only one everyone is waiting for now.
8. With so much in common, things can get a tad dramatic.
Three girls in one house? Arguments are bound to occur. My sisters and I fight over clothes, makeup and shoes, among other stuff. We are obviously girls so there are a lot of hormones and emotions roaming around which causes fights, but what are siblings without fighting? That new handbag you bought and haven’t worn yet, but goes perfectly with your sister's outfit, might just cause World War III.
9. Despite the arguments, we will always love each other.
Yeah, there may be times when we want to kill each other over a handbag or some missing fake eyelashes, but at the end of the day, we are family and my sisters will always be my favorite people in the world. I cherish them so much and they will always be my babies. I couldn’t imagine life without my sisters and I am who I am today because of them.
There’s the truth about living with my two sisters. We may drive each other crazy and confuse my dad with our over-dramatic arguments over things he will never understand, but I wouldn’t trade that life for the world. I get two best friends for the rest of my life, they’ve been there since day one and they will be there 'till the end.
I love you, Jackie and Jenny.
