Trusting The Journey While Keeping The Faith: Elevating Into Your 20s

Most people say that your 20's are your selfish years, however I feel as though your 20s are the years of elevating into the person you want to become in the future. During your 20s you are simply making the necessary adjustments to your life while trusting God to embark on this journey of growth, knowledge , and success. Below are some of the things you might experience along the way as well as helpful tips to keep pushing in faith!

1. Pray Pray Pray!

For many of you who believe in a higher power as I do ,you know the importance of prayer. As we elevate into new levels of our lives we have to seek spiritual guidance in order to know the direction we should go in while handling certain situations. Entering into your 20s, you are becoming more focused on your career rather than partying and your future income rather than spending foolishly. In addition to this, you are elevating yourself as a human being. Through this process prayer is the best map that will guide you, help you make the right decisions, and give you clarity when things are out of your hands.

2. It is okay to be Alone!

You will sometimes notice that growth comes with isolation. It is okay to be alone. Everyone will not understand your change and the necessary steps you are taking to reach your goals. Do not worry about the company you do not keep. Those who remain in your life are there for a reason. Those who are no longer in your life are gone for an even better reason.

3. Love Life!

For those who are elevating into their 20s with a significant other, this could be risky because you both are evolving in different ways and at a different pace. This is fine, as long as you two understand that you are each working towards personal goals and are still growing as people. Neither person can grow selfish or inconsiderate in relation to their significant others time and ambition. Having someone to grow, prosper, and learn with is a beautiful thing!

4. Get to Work!

You have the experience, know what you want to do in life, and know what you have to do to achieve your goals so get to work! Your 20s is not a time for laziness or feeling unqualified, it is the time to seek yourself fully in all ways spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and intellectually. Of course, all these things can be done before or after you are 20, but while you are entering into your 20s you are leaving the teenage life and entering adulthood which can be scary, motivating, and nevertheless exciting! With self motivation, prayer, hard work, and faith nothing can stop you or hinder you from becoming the person that you want to be!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
