We’ve heard it a thousand times. “It’s just the wrong timing.” And though that line is one of the most clichéd in the books, I’ve come to realize that it’s true. Timing is everything and even if you think the timing is right, it might not be God’s timing. Proverbs 19:21 tells us “many are the plans in a person's heart, but it’s the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Our timing means nothing if it doesn’t line up with His.
Whether it’s a breakup, a job we didn’t get, or lost friendships, God is working his magic and will always have your best interest at heart. If relationships will no longer help you grow, He will remove those people from your life and if a job won’t bring you closer to your true calling, He won't put it in your life. All of these things can cause anxiety and heartbreak, but you have to trade your anxiety for God’s authority. "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3. How great is that? You have someone making your plans so that your life can be great!
We so often forget how short our life is and let the small things get to us and don’t trust God. We need to follow His plan and do the things that make us happy and forget about the things that don’t! Next time you let life get in the way of your dreams or desires, remember this, “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered -- how fleeting my life is.” Psalm 39:4 (NLT)
All in all, our life is in the hands of God and everything is His timing, not ours. So walk away from that failed relationship with your head high and heart in His hands, go to Italy, forget about that job you didn’t get, love people who are in your life because God has them there for a reason and life is too short not to.
