Trump And Pence Vs. 'Hamilton'

I know I'm a little late but I wanted to post an article this week about something that's been bothering me because I don't think too many people know the full story.

On Friday, November 18, 2016 Vice President-elect Mike Pence sat down to watch the Tony award-winning Broadway musical' Hamilton'. This is a musical that tells the story of our country's beginnings featuring a diverse cast as it celebrates immigrants and diversity which this country has built upon. Knowing this, it is a little odd that the running mate for a president who is for deportation is coming to see this show. Of course, he's allowed to see whatever show he wants to see.

People started booing as soon as he was spotted in the theatre. But he sat through the entire show. The audience made it clear they had a message they wanted to get across throughout the show such as a standing ovation during a line about immigration.

At the end of the performance, Pence headed for the door. But the cast came forward and Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr in the show stepped up and began to speak to Mike Pence on behalf of his cast.

I watched the ACTUAL VIDEO of Dixon's speech so I'm not talking off of opinion right now this is what happened. First of all Dixon pointed out the Pence was in the audience which caused a chorus of boos from the audience. Dixon told everyone there was no reason to boo as everyone was there to come together and enjoy the performance. He continued to say that he had a message he hoped Pence would hear and take into account. He basically said that the campaign that Pence and Trump were running caused for some concern for him. He voices his concerns that the protection of our environment, our children, and other group might be in question. He also says that he hopes that 'Hamilton' proved for inspiration to him and Trump to run an America for all people.

THAT'S IT.

Just an American expressing his freedom is speech in an extremely respectful way in an appropriate environment. Later on, Donald Trump does what he does best and took his ouchie to twitter demanding an apology from Hamilton. Many of his devote supporters also took to twitter trending the hashtag #boycotthamilton

Trump wants people to believe that Dixon and the cast were disrespectful towards Pence but that's simple not the case. Dixon said "We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir," That's an actual quote! How in any way was that disrespectful? Truants people to believe that the 'Hamilton' cast told Pence he and Trump were unfit to be in office and they are hopeless cases. This cannot be further from the truth. Dixon even goes on to say "But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us," Sorry, where's the insult in this statement?

My favorite part of this whole thing has to be the Trump supporters who are tweeting #boycotthamilton. Sorry, how to you plan to boycott a sold-out show? Good luck.

Thanks for making it to the end of this article. Sorry it wasn't light or funny but I appreciate the amount of views I've been getting recently so I wanted to look at something more important this week. Let me know if you enjoyed it and if you are a Trump supporter who is planning to boycott 'Hamilton' feel free to send your tickets to me!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
