Everyone has their own ways of making sure they stay on top of all of the things they need to do, and sometimes, people get pretty crazy with their methods. Me however, I like to keep it simple and classic. When it comes to organizing everything I need to do, my number one go to will always and forever be my favorite: to-do lists!
Exams, quizzes, homework, meetings; no matter what it is, it will always find its way onto my handy dandy to-do list. For me, with everything that I have to do in a day, the only way that I know I will be able to keep it all straight in my head and ensure that it all gets done is if I write it all down. And personally, I would probably die if I didn't do this because my memory definitely prevents me from remembering every little thing that I need to get done in a 24-hour period.
I find that there is something extremely therapeutic about writing everything down in the morning and then crossing things off over the course of the day. For me, it's like scratching a really good bug bite: instant and calming satisfaction. But what's even better than crossing things off? Wiping the slate clean or throwing away the piece of paper. It's like a mental confidence boost. Just when you think you cannot possibly do one more homework assignment or study for one more quiz or exam, you do it and you cross it off, and then you are done. The minute that paper is in the trash or that white/chalk board is clean, you have conquered all of the daunting tasks that you thought you never could, and nobody can take that away from you.
So, as I round out the day and cross this article off my to-do list, I can't help but smile. Because this is the last thing on my list for the day, and now I get to wipe it all away. The day is over; I did it. I made it through another impossible day, all with the help of my handy dandy to-do list! (And yes, I wrote that in the tune of Blue's Clues.)
