Troll Guide: The Perfect Times To Take Naps

If you attend Trinity Christian College and you aren't using these times to take naps, you're doing something wrong.

If there's one thing that all college students have in common, it's a love for napping.

In high school, if you saw a kid sleeping in the library or some other place on campus you would judge them a little. But if you see someone sleeping somewhere random in college, your first thought is, if you have time in your schedule, to join them.

It's a beautiful thing, really, the way all college students love naps, regardless of gender, major, political leanings, friend group or any other difference one could imagine.

The only down side to naps is how hard they can be to make time for. College students are busy people, and with all that busyness it can be tough to carve out time for a good nap.

But never fear, students of Trinity Christian College! I'm here with an (almost) official guide to the best times to take naps...don't worry, you can thank me later, when you're well rested.

1. The Lunch Break on M/W/F

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday there's a beautiful 40 minutes in-between when 11:00 classes end and 12:30 classes start. Technically, this time period is set aside so students can eat lunch, but sometimes crawling into bed for a quick nap can do you more good than a meal would, so this is definitely a time to consider catching up on sleep.

2. 10 A.M. on Mondays

This one's pretty obvious, but it deserves recognition none the less. That glorious hour on Mondays where there are no scheduled classes because of the chapel hour on Wednesdays and Fridays is the perfect time to catch up on all the sleep you missed over the weekend. If you're unfortunate enough to have a meeting or some other commitment scheduled during this time, my thoughts will be with you...as soon as I wake up just in time to make it to my 11:00 class.

3. Saturday Morning After Lunch

It's perfect. You set your alarm to go off at 11:50 a.m. You roll out of bed to get to the caf at noon. Then after eating, you can be back in bed by 12:30 p.m. (12:15 if you're ambitious enough). The short lunch periods on the weekend can be annoying, but hey, at least it makes eating less invasive of your nap schedule.

4. Reading Day

The only thing that doesn't happen on Reading Day is actual reading. And sure, you could take this random day off to go home or plan a weekend in the city with friends. But why not try and spend the whole day napping? Definitely a challenge to consider taking on as one of every Trolls' favorite days of the year approaches.

5. While Waiting for Your Food at the BBC

Let's be real here - I work at the BBC and while we are definitely hustling back there trying to keep up with everyone's orders, we all know it can take a while to get your food if you order right when meal swipes start. It can be frustrating waiting for your food to be made, especially on an empty stomach. Maybe consider using this down time to take a nap. The best part is that you can use your buzzer as an alarm clock, and wake up just in time to enjoy the best sandwiches on campus.

These are my favorite times on campus to squeeze in a quick nap. But what about you, fellow Troll? Have you figured out any breaks in the campus schedule that are just long enough for a quick nap? Comment any suggestions you have down below...your classmates will all be eternally grateful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
