I Tried My First Cappuccino

These are my thoughts.

I love coffee and that amazing feeling of actually wanting to get out and do work when it starts to kick in. I had no idea what a Cappuccino was and I am not one to try new things. But while I was picking up my brother's new car there wasn't anything I wanted besides something that said "French Vanilla Cappuccino." I asked my dad what it was and what it tastes like, but he didn't really go into detail.

When the coffee started to brew I had no idea what was coming. I had seen a dozen of these "French Vanilla Cappuccino" K-Cups but they didn't interest me enough to try it. But it was cold out so I just wanted something warm. When it was done brewing I saw it was white instead of black which confused me since I was told it was like coffee. I put cream and sugar just as I regularly did in coffees and bam!

After my first sip, I remembered brewing this at home thinking it was hot chocolate which makes sense because I thought it was the worst hot chocolate. It was sweet and creamy and something I ended up drinking till it was empty. I do believe I drank it once not knowing it was coffee instead of hot chocolate. The first time I drank it, it gave me a headache which is probably why I never touched it again.

Today, I decided to brew it again (because there wasn't coffee in the house) since it's about 2 degrees outside. I started to feel a headache coming back, which I feel might have something to do with the amount of scent and flavoring. I don't do very well with drinks that are highly scented or flavored. If you're thinking "Well you picked up a drink that said French Vanilla on it" yes you're right but I didn't know I had already tried it and it had given me that feeling before.

So to ask myself, would I drink it again? Only if I had to. I strongly prefer my Starbucks Blonde or Dunkin Donuts Original Blend coffee. Plus drinking a Cappuccino doesn't make me feel like there's any caffeine like there is in coffee. Which in that case makes me feel like it's more of a hot chocolate than a coffee beverage. I really do not like flavored drinks like Cappuccinos or the popular Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I enjoy having a regular coffee and being able to put coffee syrups in them to make them just sweet without the crazy flavoring in coffees. Maybe I will try a sip of this Pumpkin spice Latte to see why it's so popular. I don't like spices so I highly doubt I will drink it all.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
