I don't understand what's wrong with people if I'm being completely honest with you.
Let me start by saying this: if you bully, make fun of, or negatively put someone down - if even you don't know that person - I'm going to look down on you. I'm going to realize that you are not someone who I want to be around 24/7.
This is being stated today due to a recent trend on Facebook that I'm calling the "Tag A Friend Posts".
If you're not familiar with the trend, good for you. However, here's what the posts look like:
Essentially, the top portion of the photo states that the individual is looking for a person named [enter name here] to do [enter sexual act here]. The bottom portion of the photo then asks if you could tag him in the photo.
So what people do is tag someone with that name. People then laugh, make fun of the person who is in the photo, and move on with their day. These photos are currently all over Facebook. I can't go to my feed without seeing one.
This angers me beyond belief. Photos are only chosen for this "game" if someone believes that the photo is of someone who is ugly/fat/weird/stupid/etc..
First off, think of how you would feel if this was you or a person you loved. You would feel mortified having people laughing at you, putting you down, and spreading your image across the internet. It would be horrible to have to deal with that, especially when people recognize the photo as you.
Secondly, some of the people who are being used for the photos have disabilities. For example, the woman pictured above has a name. Her name is Lizzie Velasquez, and she has a rare disorder that causes her not to gain weight. So now you're making fun of someone who has a medical condition that they can't control.
How can you be okay with making fun of someone? How can you tell your kids "Don't be a bully", then make fun of a stranger on Facebook?
Guys. Be a decent human being. Don't make fun of people. Don't judge them based on how they look. You don't know what someone else is going through. You never know what their background is.
Be kind to everyone you meet - or see.
Please stop sharing and tagging people in these harmful and hurtful photos. This is a trend that needs to stop.
