How To Treat Yo Self On A College Budget

Being a broke college student is hard. You want to go out and have a good time but you lack the funds to do so. Everyone deserves a reward for all of their hard work because let's face it, college is rough. Here are some fabulous tips on how you can treat yo self on a college budget.

1. Take advantage of student discounts.

You'd be surprised at how many student discounts there are. I have given you a pretty hefty list, but don't be afraid to ask local retailers if they offer a student discount; it never hurts to ask.

2. Buy one "splurge" item once a month.

I know first hand that I can barely go a day without shopping online and putting multiple items into my cart. If you limit yourself to buying one "splurge" or nice item once a month, it gives you something to look forward to and gives you a reason to save your money!

3. Etsy!

Etsy is a savior. While everything isn't necessarily cheap, it's a great place to find customizable things for your life; like a Ron Swanson poster or a monogrammed wine glass.

4. Have a night in.

Break out your comfiest pajamas and a nice fuzzy blanket. Spend the night with friends watching movies and just relaxing. Everyone deserves a night of nothing after a tough week of exams.

5. Go on a cheap solo date.

I like to treat myself to one meal out a week. Whether it's BBQ, Qdoba, or Panera, it's something I can look forward to without hurting my wallet. It also keeps me from making my own food which is a reward in itself.

6. Find great friends who have the same interests as you do

The key to "treating yo self" on a college budget is to surround yourself with people who love you and accept you. Even if you don't want to spend money or break the bank, hanging out with your friends can be a treat in itself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
