Prepare yourself for one of the biggest traveling days of the year...
You arrive at the airport, consumed with excitement as you are about to go home for the first time since August. However, your expression immediately changes as you find that the line to check your luggage is nearly out the door. Your heart begins to race. You check the time and try to remain calm.
The line moves quicker than you think and you are on your way to the next step: security. Morale is high. You eagerly follow the directions to the terminal. Surprise! The line is wrapped around the corner.
You impatiently stand in line and panic mode sets in. You begin to scrutinize the slow-moving travelers in front of you who seemingly have little regard for your dilemma.
You make it past security with little time to spare. After realizing you haven’t even had the chance to check what gate you are supposed to be in, you quickly pull out your ticket and look to the signs for directions. You discover your gate is the last one in the terminal.
You sprint through the terminal, ignoring the concerned looks from those around you. You bump into other travelers, but you straight up don’t care. All that matters is that you get on that plane.
You arrive at the gate just as they are about to close the doors. You wipe the sweat off your forehead and struggle to catch your breath. Almost frightened, the flight attendant scans your ticket and you enter the plane.
Still flustered, you scan the aisles looking for your seat assignment. You find the only spot open, a middle seat stuck between two parents and their crying newborn child. GREAT!
After what feels like a never-ending plane ride, you finally land. You hurry off the plane and practically sprint to baggage claim, just wishing this day would end already. But once you see your embarrassing family members who have come to greet you with their arms spread wide, you can’t help but to smile. This day of misery was worth it after all.
