Most people dream of going overseas to see all that Europe has to offer, but many people never have the option to. I had a chance to make my European adventure a reality this summer! I took eight flights in eight days, to see five different countries. While my journey was exhausting it was such a rewarding experience that everyone should be able to have. Through these five tips hopefully you can make your European dreams a reality too. These tips are designed to help you find an affordable and safe way to travel.
- 1.When flying internationally I highly suggest flying WOW Air. This is an Icelandic airline that flies during unusual days of the week and weird hours. This causes the flights to be much cheaper then other international airlines, but you might need to plan your trip from a Thursday to a Thursday. This is totally worth it when their flights can be as low as 99 dollars.
- 2.When looking for lodging, while in Europe, I suggest staying in Airbnb's. I was very surprised with how nice the Airbnb's where that I stayed in during my time overseas. I would suggest looking for ones that you have your own apartment area and do not have to share with your Airbnb host. During my eight days in Europe I only spent about 200 dollars on my lodging due to Airbnb's.
- 3.When looking to travel within Europe I would highly suggest using google flights. It is very helpful to show you all your options you have for those days and the prices of the flights. This is extremely helpful when you are overseas and do not know the usual airlines in the area you are visiting.
- 4.When looking into flights within Europe on Google flights, I highly suggest taking the cheapest one. This is what I did for four of my flights while in Europe and I was not disappointed. The flights where all smooth and felt very safe. You usually do have to take an airport shuttle out to your plane and walk up steps to get onto the plane. While these planes are no thrills, when it is a two-hour flight for 25 euros it is totally worth it!
- 5.Pack light. While traveling I took a personal bag and a carry on bag. I honestly regretted it. My friend, I was traveling with, took just a backpack and I was so jealous! On some of the cheaper flights, including WOW Air, you must pay to take a carry on with you. Also dragging around my luggage was a huge nuisance. I had to drag my suitcase over the cobble stone in some villages and carry up and down the plane stairs just to get on the flight. To top it all off at the end of the trip I didn't not even need majority of what I brought.
