All right, this one is for my all my bucket-listers, wanderlusters, world travelers, and adventure seekers. I am here to tell you of a hidden gem that is quickly becoming recognized and attracting tourists and photographers from all around the world. This city is sure to meet your wildest dreams.
Welcome to Prague, capital of the Czech Republic.
I had the extreme pleasure of spending three days here as part of a friend and I's 10-day European country hop. When the idea was thrown out to make this city one of our stops, I was reluctant. It wasn't until I had begun doing research on the city that it became the stop I was most excited about and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
When we first arrived in the city, we were told, "Prague is a jungle, I don't know that you'll make it out." The city seemed so culture-filled and peaceful, we were a bit taken aback. I was quite shocked however by the amount of tourism this city generated in off-season. There were tourists coming from everywhere, but especially European countries.
Prague's skyline consists of many castles, giving it a very medieval feel. The food is spectacular; it is a combination of simple, yet hearty meal with meat (sausage especially), potato dumplings, and bread making up your plate. And for dessert? Trdlenik!
As much of Europe is, Prague is a very carefree city. A night in the life of a Czech goes a little something like this: eat dinner at about 6, go to bed and wake up at 10, pre-game and get ready, arrive at the bar about 11:30, then party till 6 A.M. Surprisingly, we made it till about 4, which isn't bad for a few inexperienced Yankees. The bar scene in Prague is like nothing I ever knew existed. All the bartenders were drinking on the job, and customers were throwing glasses on the ground, whether out of happiness or drunk stupidity, I wasn't sure. When I went to order a drink, one bartender took my phone and slipped it down his pants while the other started to take my clothes off till I pulled away. Drugs were passed around like candy and there was not a line someone didn't cross (in terms of American culture).
Prague was so unlike anything I have ever seen or witnessed but in a good way. So go on, see for yourself what all the rave is about and add Prague to your bucket list immediately!
