11 Things To Know About That Friend Of Yours Who Is An Extroverted Introvert

The extroverted introvert is known by many names. Some call it an "outgoing introvert" or "social" introvert. Others argue that this is ambiversion.

It almost seems like they have the best of both worlds. They can be fun and outgoing when they want to be or just enjoy a night in doing whatever it is that they want. They can pass for full-on extroverts when they want to, but can also suddenly and immediately need to lounge on the couch and watch Netflix when they have hit the socializing limit, which is a distinctly introverted trait.

If you are friends with (or know) this type of person, here are a few things that you should know about them.

1. They love spending time with people, but will need to plan it carefully

Workaholics

Extroverted introverts love socializing and are actually good at making new friends, contrary to popular belief. But, they have to be very aware of how often they're out and about. Otherwise, they could end up hitting a wall.

2.  They don't like unnecessary small talk

The Simpsons

It just annoys them, and if they are going to spend their time talking to someone, they would rather it be meaningful. However, they can doit, they might just find it a little less than sincere.

3. Their socialization abilities often have a time limit, which can vary from situation to situation

Minions

If its a place where they know at least one person (or a few), then they are more likely to spend a longer amount of time there, compared to a place that they don't know anyone.

4. Depending on what the situation in number 3 is, it might take them longer to bounce back

Tired baby

Not every situation is the same, which means the amount of "recovery" time is different.

5. They might leave an event without saying goodbye

Javert

Or, even let someone else do it for them. It's not personal, they have just may not want to get into a conversation about why.

6. Their energy level is closely tied to their environment

Dancing

The ambiance of a place can either energize or drain them, depending on if it fits what they like to be surrounded by or not.

7. Just because they gave a speech or hosted an event doesn't mean they suddenly love crowds

Gossip Girl

Yes, they might have given a speech or hosted an event or even just went to that party, but I can almost guarantee that afterwords, they are curled up in comfy clothes on their bed (or couch) with some hot chocolate (or tea) and their laptop watching a movie.

8. They don't really like talking to many people at once

Don Cheadle

Just one or two is fine, and if possible, not for very long. Its just how they are.

9.  If they can, they would rather sit alone on a plane

Steve Martin

This way, there is no one to ask them questions that they would rather not answer.

10. They can be charming and deeply introspective/reflective

Happy Gilmore

They make small talk when it's expected of them because they know it can lead to a deeper, more authentic conversation. When out with friends, they make sure everyone's having a good time. However, most people don't realize how "in their heads" they really are.

11.  They are selectively social

Friends talking

They don't really like to have many friends because for them, trying to keep up with all of them can be draining. Instead, they like to have a few close friends that they can develop a strong relationship with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
