As you walk through the dispirited halls
I smell the stink of well-trained tyranny
And their eager masters, cracking their whips at every
unsuspecting victim
I hear the jeers and taunts thrown around,
bounced off the walls
owners unaware they can pierce the heart of another.
I see the arrogant miscreants strut around the school
see the sullen expressions of the students
As you walk through the dispirited halls
I smell the stink of well-trained tyranny
And their eager masters, cracking their whips at every
unsuspecting victim
I hear the jeers and taunts thrown around,
bounced off the walls
owners unaware they can pierce the heart of another
I see the arrogant miscreants strut around the school
see the sullen expressions of the students
see the occasional spark in an eye
a once permanent, now fleeting genuine grin
but the spark is soon washed away by a sea of insults
the grin quickly diminished by the thing you call
social standards
innocence used to cover these walls in a confident
glow, it has now since faded
it was chipped away
by every dirty word you uttered
and every filthy gesture you make
I see how this generation is evolving
how our kids will soon be without innocence
I want to help, want to fix this terrible
spiral our world is going into.
But I can't
for I am that chair that sits on the side of the room
I am that light fixture that hangs over your head
I am those lockers you slam your books in every morning
I am that window you stare out of when you daydream
I am all around you.
