After the tragic events our country has suffered from, our country deserves a break, but it is a slight chance that we will get one. Christian Grimmie, 22-years-old, shot and killed while doing something she loves. She was simply putting out an effort to engage with her fans and make the night memorable for all of the screaming people, but tragedy hit. Unfortunately we suffered a loss greater than what we originally thought of it to be. She was shot and killed, but the gunman did not only kill her, he killed a piece of every other YouTuber out there. These people who make videos because it's what they love to do, are in fear of leaving their homes, doing book signings, or just meeting with their fans randomly.
The lack of protection the people of our country are feeling is causing genuine fear in the people who shouldn't feel fear at all, Americans. We need better security out there for not only YouTubers, celebrities, singers, or magicians, but whoever they may be. We all deserve to feel protected.
Justine Ezarik, a YouTuber, posted a video fearing what her fans would say. Justine's video talks about the tragedies we have suffered in the past week, but also discusses the fear that the YouTube community now feels.
After watching this video, I hope that people understand the impact that events such as the UCLA shooting, the night club shooting, and the loss of Christina Grimmie have on people especially when they are apart of the same community.
My heart breaks for the people who continue to suffer from the many losses we have had in the past couple weeks. My hope for our country is that we all feel the genuine happiness we deserve, that we have top of the line security, and feel protected every where we go. That's probably a long shot goal, but I can't help but hope for the best for this beautiful country we live in. Until then, I challenge all of you to be the best people you can be. Love on people, even if you don't know them, be genuine and live your life the way you desire. That is absolutely critical because what happened at UCLA or the nightclub could happen to us at any moment.
