There is only "One Tree Hill," and I want it to be home.
Join me on my tour of Tree Hill.
A little over a year ago, on March 25th, 2015, my sister, Macy, and I took a once in a lifetime trip to Wilmington, North Carolina, where the hit WB series, “One Tree Hill” was filmed. Let me just tell you -- it was the coolest thing I have ever done and I am sure will ever do. We saw it all -- Karen’s Cafe/Clothes Over Bros, Baker Man, Nathan’s House, and more. We (embarrassingly enough) went for Eye Con’s Convention there and got to meet the cast members too.
They offer tours around Wilmington that show you all of the sties that they filmed at, but we didn’t want to spend the money and wanted to get to spend as much time at each location as we wanted. So, we made friends with two random girls from the convention (I know mom, we basically went against all you have taught us about stranger danger), and had a blast. Here is a tour of my second favorite place in the world, Tree Hill
Here is the airport where they filmed numerous episodes. From when Karen came home from Italy, to when Lucas met Haley and her kids. The airport is really tiny and cute.
Here is Nathan Scott's house (while he lived with his parents). It was huge. There was a basketball court, just like in the show, and a black suburban, which probably was not Dan's car (but whatever it could've been). The house is occupied by a family. The show would rent out the house for filming, but people did live there then and now. (Just FYI if you ever visit, do not go up to the front door. Believe me -- I wanted to see Nathan's bedroom as much as the next gal, but it really freaks out the families.)
Here is the town! Where we see all of the cast walking up and down the streets in each episode. Downtown Wilmington contains Karen's Cafe, Baker Man, the record store, and a lot of other filming sites.
Karen's Cafe and Clothes Over Bros! The awning is the same, the colors are the same, but the inside is unfortunately now an outdoor store. It was really cool to get to walk inside.
This is the corner of Front and Grace, which Haley and Brooke talk about in season nine (I would quote the line but that would be so embarrassing).
Here is Baker Man/Tree Hill Cafe from Season 9. It is now one of the Port City Java locations. The inside looks so much like Tree Hill Cafe (inside below!).
Here is the Riverwalk in Downtown Wilmington. They filmed several things here such as the Burning Boat Festival, Haley and Nathan's dates, and Haley's spontaneous concert with that random girl singing and playing the guitar.
Also on the Riverwalk, Haley and Nathan's bench where he gave her the Cracker Jack box bracelet.
Here is a church in Downtown Wilmington where Keith was left at the altar by Jewel's and other scenes were filmed at.
Here is the famous building that is shown throughout the entire series.
Ugh the best place ever -- Brooke Davis' house. The door was still red. Literally the best.
Haley's house before she married Nathan.
Lucas and Karen's house! It was kinda in the middle of a not so nice area, and was the furthest from the other houses, which were all fairly close together.
Sorry for whoever lives here, but I really needed to welcome myself onto your porch and get a picture of Lucas' bedroom door.
The iconic bridge.
Here is the restaurant where Brooke and Julian spent time together. This is also the restaurant where Sam hung out and her mother. They had the best white chocolate strawberry pancakes ever.
Here is Tree Hill High.
Here is the nightclub, Tric. They created a different entrance for the club that had stairs leading up to an entrance on the second floor. They removed the stairs and that entrance after filming was over.
Here is Peyton and Lucas' spot where he car breaks down.
Here is the beach where so many scenes are filmed. Dan's beach house is further away.
The bookstore in Downtown Wilmington. It was like the coolest bookstore I have ever been to. It had thousands of books and the books that were used on set were purchased here. The workers had met several of the cast members and told us about them.
And my absolute favorite part of the trip, seeing the Rivercourt. They build the basketball court for the show, and removed it several years ago. Some fans got pieces of the cement. There is still the picnic bench that they sat on in the show, with signatures from the cast members. The big white building is where they filmed scenes at "Duke" where they had to drive "hours away." But really, Duke was across the street from the Rivercourt and is maybe a ten-minute drive.
Ah and lastly, the best part of the trip. My four seconds with Chad Michael Murray. He is literally that cute.
It was the best trip! If you ever go, don't go on a tour, just google the addresses and uber the way. It was so much more fun that way. And, to go to a convention, visit EyeCon.com. They are still doing conventions in Wilmington, North Carolina and London too.
