Top Traits Of The Mentally Fit

Whether you are physically fit or not, one thing that should remain strong is your state of mind. If you have a negative attitude, you’re not going to get anywhere, physically or otherwise. Being able to think positively about life is an important skill that many people tend to forget about. There are some actions that “mentally strong” people take to stay that way.

Forbes Magazine actually lists 18 things that positive people do. Here are some of the most important ones.

1) They move on. They give themselves a little time to feel sorry for themselves but they do not dwell on the past. They recognize it happened, see their mistake, and move on to bigger and better things.

2) They stay in control of themselves. A mentally strong person does not let anyone take away their power. They keep their sparkle, and do not allow others to bring down their mood or self-confidence. One way to help with self-control is by taking a yoga class which can be relaxing and can help you feel at peace.

3) They embrace change. They do not allow themselves to get too comfortable in their situation but challenge themselves, and welcome new experiences into their life.

4) They are willing to fail. They are also willing to celebrate others’ success even when they do not succeed themselves. They have to ability to be happy for others in any situation. They take failure and use it as a lesson for the future. They do not stay down when they fail but use it as a chance to start over.

5) They are able to be alone. And enjoy it. So many people feel insecure when they are left alone. They feel like they have been rejected, or that no one wants to be around them, but that is not the case. Being able to be alone is a quality of a mentally strong person. They use the time to help themselves grow, and become more fearless.

6) They think productively. Mentally strong people replace all of their negative thoughts with productive thoughts, and use that time to their advantage. Being productive even in hard times is the sign of a strong person.

7) They tolerate discomfort. They understand that you are not always going to be comfortable in your situation. Things may be uncomfortable, but if you face your problems head on, the discomfort can be used to make you stronger. Being mentally strong is just as important as being physically strong. A person can be physically fit, but if they have a negative attitude, they are not going to be able to succeed and move forward. So, be the most positive person you can be, and believe in yourself and how far you can go!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
