The Simpsons is one of the most influential American sitcoms ever. Having been on the air since 1989, it’s the longest-running animated sitcom in the United States. There have been 596 episodes so far, and the show is still going! It will reach its 600th episode this fall, with its annual Halloween special “Treehouse of Horror XXVII.” To celebrate the pop cultural phenomenon that is The Simpsons, I’m compiling the Top Three Best Quotes from it.
3: “Me, fail English? That’s unpossible!” (Lisa on Ice)
Ralph Wiggum isn’t the brightest kid at Springfield Elementary, so it’s not exactly a surprise that he was failing English.
2: “‘Mono’ means ‘one,’ and ‘rail’ means ‘rail.’ And that concludes our intensive three week course.” (Marge vs. the Monorail)
When conman Lyle Lanley gives the citizens of Springfield a nominal course about how to conduct a monorail, which is really just a scam to get their money, he ends the course with this.
1: “Hello, my name is Mr. Burns. I believe you have a letter for me.” “OK, Mr. Burns. Uh, what’s your first name?” “I don’t know.” (Blood Feud)
When Homer needs to get an angry letter that he sent to his boss Mr. Burns in the heat of the moment back, he decides to pretend to the mailman that he’s Mr. Burns. Homer has so little respect for Mr. Burns (which is understandable, because Mr. Burns is a greedy evil person who cares about nobody but himself), that he has no idea what his first name is. (If you're curious, it's Charles.)
