The first video of Jon Cozart’s (also known as Paint) I ever saw was “Harry Potter in 99 Seconds”. My friend (who is also a huge Harry Potter nerd) forced me to watch it after she had seen it and become completely obsessed. After days of trying to persuade me, I finally succumbed to the pressure and watched it. Immediately, I was hooked by Cozart’s quirky on-screen charisma, creative lyrics and pitch-perfect vocals. Here are the top five reasons why Jon Cozart is a youtube content creator like none other:

1. He starts conversations about politics, public figures, challenging societal norms, and social issues in the comments of his videos

Even in his videos parodying christmas carols and endings to Disney princess movies, Cozart works in ideas and puns relating to current events and politics that get people talking.

2. His videos are impeccably produced

Each takes months to write, record and produce before it is ready to be uploaded, watched, and shared by masses on the internet. In contrast, a typical YouTuber films and produces a new video every week. His content is so cutting-edge and original, it takes significantly longer for Paint to do the same. In most of his videos, he sings with himself by laying videos on top of each other until he has created all of the musical parts necessary to perform his songs.

3. He has a staggering following of over three million subscribers on YouTube

astronomical fanbase, especially considering his inconsistency of video uploads. Along with his subscribers on YouTube, Cozart has over three hundred thousand followers on Instagram and over two hundred thousand followers in Twitter.

4. His content is extremely addicting to watch

When you watch a new Paint video, its nearly impossible to not share it and then replay it again... And again... And again, until you have every witty lyric memorized before your friends do. The "loop-ability" of his videos has lead many of them to internet fame. His first and second "After Ever After" videos have a cumulative view total of over one hundred million.

5. Jon Cozart is undeniably relatable

Ultimately, the best thing about him is that he is self deprecating, funny, talented, and down to earth -- you cannot help but want to be friends with him after watching one of his masterpieces.
