Not making as much money as you thought this summer? Not sure how you're going to furnish your house this fall? Fear not, I am the daughter of a hoarder (sorry, mom). Here are all the places you can go to get all of the things you need to fill up your home away from home!

1. Grandma's House

No one has more excess cookie sheets and baking pans than grandma! Take whatever you can get, even if it’s a few old cookie cutters! You never know, you might be using those same cookie cutters to make DIY soaps or dog treats at Christmas time (since you blew all your money at Dollar Drink Night, whoops!) Who even knows when the last time your grandma cleaned out the cupboards or in my case.. the dreaded garage!

2. Graduates

Recent grads are DYING to get rid of old furniture, dish wear, clothing, you name it! Make sure you ask around if you know people moving out, or look out for your school's Facebook pages! Most of these people are dying to get rid of this kind of stuff and will sell it to you for as little as nothing! Nothing like a good ol' dumpster diving sesh with your homies before heading home for the summer!

3. Thrift Stores

I don’t care what anyone says, the dish wear at Goodwill is just as nice as the Walmart brand. You can get those dishes for a fraction of the cost and shine them up just as nice by using a little elbow grease! Plus you really can’t beat the cheesy .50 bingo mugs! After all, these items are still doing the same job aren't they?

4. TJ Maxx

Not the cheapest, but you can definitely score some quality and name brand items for much cheaper than normal here! I got a really nice Pyrex baking dish, and bath mats here for much cheaper than what I could have spent at other stores or online!

5. Amazon

I hope every college student out there is taking advantage of the FREE Amazon Prime for students! Not only can you bargain shop on Amazon, but you can get free two-day shipping on tons of items with your Amazon prime membership! Did I say FREE?

6. Garage Sales (the online ones too)

Scout your hometown for garage sales near you! You might find the missing piece for your house or apartment! My mom was able to score me a really awesome stand for my record player for just $5! With just a little bit of a paint and a piece of sandpaper, you might as well deem it as a piece from urban outfitters!

7. Big Lots

So underrated! I got a set of couch pillows for $10, a kitchen mat for $5, and tons of miscellaneous items for my kitchen for way less than expected! Definitely don’t overlook this store!

8. Your Parents

No one likes to get rid of more clutter than your parents. Its like once you move out and are on to college they're constantly finding ways to minimize the clutter and downsize the house as much as possible! Only time will tell when your old room will turn into the new office or workout space!

9. Dollar Tree/Dollar Stores

These places are great for office supplies and kitchen materials. Some items that you can save big money on here are things like scissors, tape, dish soap, and baking utensils. Everything is a dollar so you might as well pick up some brownie mix or no-bake cookies on your way out!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
