Let's face it: We're all ready to go back to school, but there are still some things that make it hard to say goodbye to our hometowns. We spent the entire summer getting adjusted back to how life was before college, and now we're going to have to readjust again. Here are nine things to miss about this summer:
1. Being able to go to your favorite restaurant
There are some dishes that simply can't be recreated.
2. Your high school friends
Reconnecting only to leave again stinks.
3. Any new friends you made through things you participated in during the summer
Whether that be bonds created through agonizing over summer classes, or some friends you made at the gym, you can't wait to be back at school – but you don't want to leave them behind!
4. Being able to cook your own food whenever you want without having to wait on the community kitchen
Unless you were lucky enough to land an apartment this year, your food availability will now be limited by the dining hall and the hours when the shared kitchen is open.
5. Not having to feel guilty about taking long naps
We could sleep the day away without thinking about the next paper we had to write.
6. Not having to whip out extra coins or the debit card to do laundry
Thank goodness for the family washer and drier.
7. Siblings
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to miss you, brother, and all of your annoying yet hilarious antics.
8. Being around children and adults much older than you
College is just about the only time you'll ever live in an area with so many people in your age range, and it rocks – but sometimes you miss adorable little tykes and the wise words of those with more experience.
9. Parents
Last but not least, you won't miss the rules but you'll definitely realize how much you take it for granted being able to see your parents' faces everyday.
