If I am to be fair, this is partially my fault. I refuse to write another cover letter full of (slight) lies trying to appeal with a supervisor to hire me on their team for a pay that will not be substantial to my time. However, after sending in no less than eight specially tailored resumes and being rejected for an interview for each, it might be time to take the hint. While the recent lack of luck in the job market has made me question the strength of having a degree, it has not helped me grasp the concept of participated in illegal monetary activities (note: I do not participate in any activities I cannot get myself out of... usually). So, for my college-mates out there who are also searching through their teen accounts they are locked out of seeing if there is something on there holding you back from that $8.00 per hour, know that you are not alone; you have me at the least.
So, where do we go from here? What do we search for when we've searched for the status-quo? Self-regulated, in some way lucrative, highly-legal work opportunities. And I will apologize before hand; these jobs are meant to be lucrative in the long run for your time and money. See below:
4. UserTesting.com
What: Get a link to a website in your inbox. Test it out for at least 20 minutes. You have just earned $10.
Why: Let us be honest with each other: we want to know the 'to-good-to-be-true' offer and this is it. This is the one I cannot speak on from experience, however it is a legit site and seems promising. If you have that internship that is out of this world, do not need anything stressful, and/or just need a few extra bucks in your pocket, this is it.
My Thoughts: Like stated above, I cannot speak for this site on a first basis, however it is a legitimate website and is not different than taking online surveys. This is good to have on the side if you are a frequent internet surfer and is thus lucrative for your time
3. Care.com
What: Care.com is an online-based database website which offers users either services or job opportunities in caregiving. The site is versatile in the categories of care needed, which includes child care, senior/adult care, pet care, and housekeeping.
Why: This is best for those looking to work with hospitality, education, and even philanthropy. Care.com is versitle enough to create your own rate of pay while building your experience through self-regulated opportunities, thus this suggestion is time lucrative from a monetary and career standpoint. It is a great option for those who have worked with their church's youth program, volunteered at the nursing home, or at the least has a family member that can vouched they have seen you throw away a can of soda.
My Thoughts: It is not a bad option, but the least exciting as it is the safest. Unless you are looking into a career where this network could easily give you the credit you need to be more marketable, I would think of this as the least time savvy job route. This is a great option for those who need cash for support and need to make money at a rate that best fits them and their schedule.
2. Shop and Box
What: Shop and Box is an internationally popular website that sets up users with personal shoppers in foreign countries around the world. These shoppers, fittingly called 'boxers,' offers to purchase goods ranging from cosmetics to food exclusive to their region and ship it to the consumers who accept their offer to shop personally for it.
Why: This is a good option for those who want to go into fashion, fashion merchandising, business, or has an eye for investing. Though one must request to be a boxer, the job is till very open and allows the boxers to make money at their disposal.
My Thoughts: It still requires you request to be apart of the services, yet it is easily one of the more lucrative jobs. As a boxer, you can sell 50 tartlet palettes as a profit and spend the bulk of your work time at the shipping office. There is no time limit and no cap on how much of an item you can sell. Just, stay in your lane
1. YouTube
What: Beyond the funny cat videos and many artist who were discovered on the site, YouTube is one of the largest social media sites around and allows users to upload, share, and watch personal content videos while making their own custom brand and outreach.
Why: The question is more of why not? The social media site is known for launching careers through the company and through outside sponsors. It is the epitome of 'being your own boss' by being a youtuber and if you allow your brand to reflect what your are passionate about, your benefits will be abundant if you stay persistent, original, and unique.
My thoughts: YouTube can be one of the most beneficial options, but it is not for the persistent and the inconsistent. Success on youtube is not about being the best, but providing the best with your content and brand. It is best for those who can see themselves being self-employed for a long period of time and who has time to build up their salary. Though slow in the beginning, the benefits will come in, just not automatically. This option is best for building, not for a quick fix in pay.
