Here we are. It’s 2015, and in the past week or so, you have probably heard the words every girl wants to hear in her life: the Dixie Chicks are coming back on tour. Since 2005, we have patiently been awaiting their revival after they killed their career by making a comment about not supporting the Bush administration’s decision to invade Iraq (which in fact turned out to be in line with the majority or Americans' viewpoints a few years later). I personally never thought I would see this day come. My parents played the Dixie Chicks for us when we were little (a result of having four toddlers and getting sick of Raffi), so we have been fans for years. Their tour starts in 2016, making stops in 40 U.S. cities, including one in my home state of Connecticut. To get in the mood, here are my top five favorite songs the Dixie Chicks ever put out.
1. Cowboy Take Me Away
The perfect song to listen to while driving in your car in the rain, or really any other time. This song will make you want to move to Montana, even if you have never been.
2. There’s Your Trouble
Possibly my favorite song they ever put out--- this song is fun to dance to and the upbeat tempo makes you almost forget it’s about the person you love, loving someone else.
3. Wide Open Spaces
A classic and another perfect song to listen to with your windows down. If you don’t know this song, I don’t know what you’ve been doing with your life.
4. Goodbye Earl
Don’t ever date a guy named Earl (sorry if you’re reading this and your name is Earl).
5. Landslide
Being the Fleetwood Mac fan that I am, I love Stevie Nicks' original, but this version will always hold a special place in my heart.
