My Pick for the Top Five Florida Georgia Line Music Videos

As a huge country music fan, I am always excited when a new music video comes out, especially when it is from one of my favorite groups. Recently, Florida Georgia Line released a music video for the song “May We All” off of their newest album, Dig Your Roots. Unlike their other videos, this one features BK and Tyler in a story. “We’re not performing, we’re not singing at all. We’re just acting,” said Tyler, “It’s our first time.” The duo, who play the role of brothers, will have you on the edge of your seat as they race each other around a dusty track. With fire, action shots and of course a guest appearance by Tim McGraw, this video does not disappoint.

But this is not the first great music video that FGL has produced. From their upbeat party anthems to heart wrenching love songs, they have had their share of meaningful, fun and emotional videos. Although they are all great, here are my top five picks.

5. Confession

Although the regular video is great, it’s the lyric video that takes the number five spot in my eyes. The concept is simple- while the lyrics pop up in the bottom left corner of the screen, Tyler and BK sit in a parking lot writing an assortment of confessions on dry erase boards. With things such as “I really miss my grandmommy,” “slept in a truck for a whole summer in Myrtle Beach…good times,” and “I shop more than my wife,” fans really get an inside look into the lives of the artists. It’s that personal touch that makes it stick out among the rest.

4. H.O.L.Y.

Not only is H.O.L.Y a beautiful love ballad that made it to #1 on the Billboard country music charts, it has a breathtaking music video to boot. Shot on the shore next to the stunning Twelve Apostles in Victoria, Australia the video has a raw spirituality that has not been seen from FGL before. With camera sweeps of cliffs, fields and rolling hills, illuminated by the glow of a sunset, the duo belts out the lyrics while playing the guitar and piano. And the two women featured, strolling alongside the crashing waves, are their wives. Tell me that doesn’t make you say “aww”!

3. Sun Daze

Now to take a break from the sappy stuff, let’s look at a more traditional FGL feel-good party song. Beginning with the two men in an office being reprimanded by a condescending boss, the scene soon changes to an epic pool party. While singing about just wanting to have some fun, the video includes water slides, a fully stocked bar, blow-up instruments and of course, crazy costumes. Adorned with a dancing crowd, it sure seems like the duo got their fun. In the end, they show back up to their desks, dripping wet, with the reports that the boss had requested. Good save, guys.

2. Stay

Although “May We All” is the first video that featured Tyler and BK’s acting, it is not the first story video they released. Interlaced between shots of Florida Georgia Line performing, Stay tells the heart-wrenching story of a broken love. The girl that thinks she is ready to move on leaves behind the heartbroken boy who, “can’t go another day without you.” When she finally realizes her mistake and returns home, all she finds is the burnt down remains of what used to be. It’s like an entire love movie in under four minutes. I'm still waiting for the sequel.

1. Dirt

My number one Florida Georgia Line music video is a real tear-jerker. Beginning with a man reminiscing about his love, Rosie, it soon turns into a flashback of their life together. With a down home feel and a focus on generations, the importance of dirt shows up time and time again. By the end, the camera pans out and you realize that the man, surrounded by family, is presenting his eulogy for the deceased Rosie. It adds a whole new meaning to the final line of lyrics, “someday you’ll return to it.” If that doesn’t pull on your heart strings, I don’t know what will.

What is your favorite music video?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
